'American Horror Story' season 2 will have new house, new faces

great start over after killing off all but a few characters :1orglaugh

Hopefully fans of "American Horror Story" didn't get super-attached to the characters or the setting of the FX series, because season 2 will bring plenty of changes.

When it debuted in October, the Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk co-created program starred Dylan McDermott and Connie Britton as the Harmons. The couple, along with their teen daughter, moved into a haunted old mansion in Los Angeles. Jessica Lange's portrayal of Constance, meanwhile, earned her a Golden Globe nod.

But by the end of the first season, as we noted in this week's recap, it was less about who was killed in a given episode of "American Horror Story" and more about who was still living. Judging from a conference call Murphy held with press on Thursday, there isn't much that will make it out of the first season alive.

"The next year of the show - each season of the show - will be a different haunting," Murphy said, according to the New York Times.

"So what you saw in the finale was the end of the Harmon house, and the second season of the show will be a brand new home or building to haunt," he went on. "Every season of the show will have a beginning, a middle and an end."

E! News adds that along with a new setting - which Murphy says won't be in L.A. - he's plotting a new main cast. Some of the old familiar faces will return, he says, but it sounds like they won't be portraying their current characters.

"There will be familiar faces and also some new faces," Murphy said. "The people that are coming back will be playing completely different characters, creatures, monsters, etc. [The Harmons] stories are done....I think we'll announce the full cast and what the new storyline is going to be sometime in February."

Are you disappointed by the news, or is it exciting to think that each season will start fresh? yes im pissed  :disgust :( ive never seen a producer tear down a tv show and start over.

Towards the end of this season, me and the wife somewhat suspected they'd try a new house and characters for each season.

I think its a better way to go.....imagine how dull it would be in a few series if they stayed in the same house continually adding more ghosts lol.

I'm not going to watch it anyways...

I hope they can pull it off. It was kind of weird to leave it at Constance raising the Antichrist and it would be weird to not have followup, but bringing in old, dead chars to a new place...

This was actually SUPPOSED to be the plan since "day 1" the show was to be like Twilight Zone, Tales From The Darkside, Tales from the crypt etc etc etc, each season would be like a complete episode.

That concept got shelved after the 3rd episode because the cast got so much of a following there were plans to attempt to at least drag this cast into 1 more season.

Good to see they are going back to the org premise of the show, I will miss the main (young version) everyone else.... meh

Every episode of Twilight Zone, Tales From The Darkside, Tales from the crypt etc were like a new, err, episode. There was no continuing story line in any of those programs beyond the odd two-parter.

it's a great idea, and one they had mentioned a while back.
you can only go so far with one haunted house, but they are going to have to kick ass to equal or top the first season.

Useless to debate around a television program ...

Wow, I'm so glad they have the basics of storytelling down.

I might give it a try.
