Where do you want to be in life, in 20 or 30 years?
What are your goals?
Do you want family, and a comfortable retirement? Do you want fame and fortune? Where would you want to live when/if you retire? Somewhere warm? Somewhere near where you grew up? Would you be golfing, and fishing? Or traveling and dining out? Married or single? Do you even think about it at all? Enquiring minds want to know.... :) . |
At my age I live day to day :(
|
I want to be happy, healthy and wealthy :thumbsup
|
living sea shore bungalo i believe, overseeing sunsets.
|
Same as now, just with more mmoney
|
judging from the short answers so far, I'm guessing that you guys haven't put much thought into this yet.... :)
. |

|
In 20 years I hope to be retired. In 30 years I friggen better be retired!!

Will be happy to be alive, healthy, and still have my family, who is also healthy. That's all I ask for.
|
GFY has matured, more and more people think of saving what they have, no pimping anymore.
|
I'll probably still be posting on here...
|
still alive is all I want
|
Alive and close to my family and loved ones. Retired would be nice as well ;)
|
In Brazil full time. Hopefully with the same girl. I like my place so that is cool. Not much I want to change.
|
Healthy and Wealthy living near the Seaside with a boat and my family and friends nearby..
|
I don't even know what I'm doing next year, let alone 20-30 years... I assume by then I will still be doing whatever I want, whenever I want :1orglaugh
|
i want to be a live-in custodian of a public toilet...
I'm reaching for the stars i know, but i can always dream... |
Everything I've ever wanted has come true, it's just never on as grand of a scale as I imagined.
Like my biggest thing was having a mansion on the beach in South Florida. Don't have a mansion and not on the beach, but am in South Florida and only 3.1 miles from the ocean. Comfortable existence with a kid that is by then probably 10 to 12 years old is where I see myself in 20 years. I was going to say I hope the number of kids doesn't end up being the thing that is always grander than I imagined but reminded myself that I have to buy my kids. |
I'd like to be on my smaller yacht somewhere in the Mediterranean.

The only thing I would change is relief from the mind numbing pain I suffer with 24/7. |
If I ever have enough money I'd love to buy a beach house somewhere warm all year round with a nice girl I can smash every day.
A lot of hard work is needed... |
I want to be doing the following:
Enjoying the company of my child/children Helping people facing financial challenges (aka poor people) develop the internal / life skills to move up and ahead Helping my church Teaching sustainable organic farming to many people in the provinces Starting a free library and literacy program or a school for children from poor backgrounds Spreading the message of healthy living and the benefits and joys of a vegetarian diet in my country |

in 20 years I'll be 47, My goal would be to have enough money by 40 to not have any worries for the rest of my life. That is somewhat vague but here's really where I'd like to be and how I'd like to be perceived: Someone who is known and reputable in his given area of work (computers/software, working with people(models/contractors/clients), an authority figure on the subject matters of his field). Those are fair goals, stated everything explicitly isn't needed in this post however. I'm caught up on how some things will work out but if you sit down and schedule everything and use a pen and paper to reevaluate your goals on a weekly and monthly basis this task isn't that hard. Keep a simple diary and list near by or in an encrypted folder for your own benefit. Also the goal would be to avoid getting into any serious trouble when I'm particularly ambitious. :winkwink: |
In about 20 years my 5th wife should be 19 years old.
|
Surfing good waves with my son :)
and more time with the family! |

People day dream of being rich and happy when they retire yet are piss poor all through their working lives. If you are always skint in the productive part of your life you shouldnt expect it to be any better when you retire. Today is one of the better days in your life, it goes downhill towards the end.
|
20 years? Alive would be a good start.
|
If I can't be healthy and mentally alert. Dead from a heart attack in my sleep.
Cue trolls to jibe. |
recognized for my genius.

I would like to be in a position where I am not struggling for the simplest shit. I have a mainstream web job that I enjoy but the pay is horrible, no insurance, etc. I'm in a smaller town in Fla, and the web design companies are little to none.
I was doing some freelance design and getting payed well with a company in the UK and NY, but earlier this year that work went away, which is kind of how I found you guys, lol. I would like to think I will eventually start making some money doing this :1orglaugh. I could then focus solely on designing, creating, and expanding. I would help my mother who is worse off than I am and my girlfriend could leave her shitty job that she hates. I know how to survive on a budget but I don't like to see them like this. I am confident that with time things will change for the better. I hope you guys get everything you are working for as well :thumbsup |
I just want to be alive and to be happy that I am alive.

I'm 37 now and probably will be dead in 20 years... just trying to make it day by day.
|
I want to be comfortably retired with plenty of money in the bank. I won't move to Florida though when I get old. I want to move to the mountains and live in a gorgeous house with a view of the mountains where I can hike and fish and enjoy nature. I sound like a hippie, right?
|
Really can't picture what my goal is 20-30 years from now.
For each stage in my life I realize there is something new I want and for each new thing I get I realize there is so much more in this world. Setting such a long term goal would be a huge limitation Probably wanna do more travelling that's not work related to actually see the places I'm going to now, have to wait till the kids are all grown up though. I'm surprised by everyone that wanna be "retired", why put your heart, soal and sweat into doing something so you can stop doing it ? |

I agree. Personally, I'm pretty close to where I want to be already. I live in Miami, on the water, have a boat, an amazing wife, and a beautiful baby son, good friends, etc... I'm 48, and I think that the only change is that I would probably move my situation to central america, (maybe Panama on the Carribbean side), get a slightly bigger boat, and have even more time with my family, teaching my son, (and my other child, whatever that turns out to be), to sail, go camping, etc.... However I can never see myself retiring completely. I think that I would simply work from a higher level, overseeing and investing in projects. Work is too much fun for me to stop altogether. .:2 cents::pimp |

Living in the middle of nowhere... Getting paid by adult and not thinking about anything too important.
|
I don't want fame or fortune, I'd like to be able to earn enough money to do what I enjoy. Open up a small restaurant / bar and speed shop for modified high-end cars. Further down the road, married with kids and grandchildren on the way.
When I'm retired I want to live around the globe. Have a place in Costa Rica, Spain or even have some property on a coastline in Croatia and of course a place here in the U.S, likely Arizona or Texas. |
