Christmas gifts for long distance relatives
 

I just discovered this morning my wife wrote out a $100 check to her neice, all of twenty-one, who lives cross country and who we haven't seen in three years. If I do the math and if we were to give $100 to every neice and nephew, it would add up to $2800.

Is this common?

This just totally made my day!

I sent 100 dollars to my niece for xmas, valentines day and her birthday. It was my money to send tho.

My girlfriend still buys her sister Christmas presents, and Birthday gifts, even though she hardly ever gets anything in return.

I've told her to stop buying her any more stuff, but says she won't because "she won't stoop to her level".

We had the same discussion here. We spent about $300 on my girl's neice, her half sister and her husband.

We got a 6 pack of drinking glasses from Walmart that I got $9 for when I returned.

On top of that we travel to CT to visit them and they make no effort to come and visit us, always claiming that they have no money. But just purchased a $400k home.
