My grandma was a pirate that even the youth of today would envy. She dropped coin on Disney movies as a collector (unwrapped), but man, she had HUNDREDS of VCR movie copies with a notebook with all the movies and had extended play with like 3 movies on each tape!

crazy that in todays world theyd want to lock my grandma up for being pirate. or fine her 1 milly hahahaha

My Grandma still has my Gramps room of movies. There are shelves on all four walls and they are all full. He'd tape anything and everything that came on TV in the way of movies. At one point, he was recording shit on three TVs in three different rooms of the house.

Can you still go out and buy a VCR...I don't think I've had one in more than 10 years now.

Time-shifting is perfectly legal. Your grandparents did nothing wrong as long as they weren't selling/giving away copies at the local flea market.

i just think its kind of funny that if you download a porn clip of a blowjob you need jail time, but its cool to store a room full of hollywood movies LOL

Personally, I don't think the courts should go after the downloaders with big penalties. I think the content hosts and the uploaders should bear the heavy fines and the legal burden for copyright violations. We should monetize, not criminalize, the downloaders. Just my opinion.

my parents have about 500 vhs tapes but most of the movies were copied from television in the late 80s early 90s..i get more of a kick out of the old commericals than anything.

just this week i threw away my vhs collection of the simpsons...every episode from 1989 to 2001. i stopped bothering at that point but i spent a lot of time making sure they got copied every week when i was younger. couldn't even recycle them..what a waste.

A famous British comedian (Bob Monkhouse) was a serious recorder of tv and radio, so much so that it was a problematic obsession. when he died, they discovered that his collection contained many programmes previously thought lost forever.

We had a neighbor that copied movies rented from the video store, then rented them out for $1 per night.

We had a someone in my neighborhood who did the same.

my granddads brother got caught copying movies and ps2 games. he got something like a 30,000 pound fine and time in jail i carnt remember how long. we used to go over to his house all the time but his movies were all screener s super shit quality.

Most Grannies are Kleptomaniacs, they love to steal spoons, and ashtrays at restaurants and hotels mainly.

I knew an old lady that would have like a VIP first dibs of the new releases from Blockbuster and she would copy them all. She had shelves and shelves of thousands of movies. I was thinking about that recently and wow, she could have done life for all the copyright shit she had lol.
