Godaddy charges 20% surcharge for European webmasters

I made a bid of $500 for a domain through Godaddy Auctions, I won, but now as I go to checkout, I see the end price is $600 (with $100 more), instead of $500. I made purchases before, but there was never an added tax. The surcharge was not disclosed before I made the bid.
Godaddy answered that: "The additional charge is for your countries VAT tax. These charges are well outside the parameters of our control." ...but then I asked two other domain companies, and both said they don't have any tax surcharge. The only way is to pay with a billing address outside Europe. Any ideas? I thought to pay with my Paxum credit card and enter "Belize" for country, I don't know if it will work, though? |

who doesnt charge VAT will have problems later - ask AFF
Godaddy is right to do so, just set up a real company, get a VAT ID and you dont need to pay it or file your taxes correctly and get VAT back from your government |
