A special FUCK YOU to Google, please contribute and share!

We all know Google loves to track and profile every search we run, every move we make. So don't let them! Install the Google sharing plugin and never get profiled again while running a search!

I've noticed recently that if I log into gmail, then clear all google cookies (the gentleman's way of logging out), youtube still knows my account name. They must do a redirect to youtube or other third party domain name to set a cookie when I log in. Fucking creepy.

edit: just tested it then, and logging in to gmail initiates a HTTPS connect to a bunch of domains, including youtube...

accounts.google.com
ssl.google-analytics.com
accounts.youtube.com
mail.google.com
mail-attachment.googleusercontent.com
pagead2.googleadservices.com
chatenabled.mail.google.com

That's just logging in, nothing else. No wonder they can tell every fucking thing you do on the net.

I've never used gmail and probably never will. :)

I have never worried about it.

Let them know what I search for, I don't see the problem....

...until they call your wife and ask her if her husband would be interested in gay gangbang porn subscriptions, since that's what he searches for online.

OK, exaggerated, but hopefully you get the point.

Bet you visit plenty of sites with recaptcha, google analytics, and google plus share/like code embedded in them.

Yup same here, I don't care, I'm not searching for anything illegal on Google.

I don't think there is anything that I would search for that I would be embarrassed about.

I see the point though....

I've taken to opening gmail on it's own dedicated chrome browser, I do my browsing on firefox with noscript and a few other things going. Might move away from gmail though the spam cleaning is a big factor why I use it (I have my own emails but I scrub them through gmail)

cherrylula 01-28-2012 07:26 AM

Let them track surfers so they can show them my ads. I'm alright with that. lol

Use Thunderbird. Has a very good built-in spam filter, lots of add-ons available for it and, best of all, it's free! :)

The fucker just won't remove the spam in my inbox. It tags it as spam but refuses to delete it. And i'm pretty sure i checked all the settings. 5 times.

I love Firefox, with the AdBlock Plus and No Script Plugins.

DamageX 01-29-2012 09:10 AM

For those with FireFox 9 or Chrome, try TrackMeNot instead.

baddog 01-29-2012 10:01 AM

How about if you do not like Google, stop associating with them entirely?

Lots of Germans didn't like Hitler, but they weren't able to stop associating with him.

arock10 01-29-2012 10:37 AM

I don't see the big deal. Don't cookie your surfers for anything if you have a problem with how the Internet works

Not sure our history books agree. What country are you from?

Don't forget to install Betterprivacy in FF so you can delete those pesky LSOs.

Oh, so you mean like some Americans do not want to be associated with Obama?

Dating Port 01-29-2012 12:16 PM

What Adsense account? They cancelled it 4 hours after I had a heated argument over my Adwords account.

Seriously, I don't get it... Are you deliberately trying to seem thick? I actually thought you were smarter.

brentbacardi 01-29-2012 12:51 PM

I have a love hate relationship with the big G... I hope bing rises up a bit and takes some market share but really nobody does it better then google

raymor 01-29-2012 01:26 PM

Don't log in, or when done log out if you're concerned about it. Alternatively use your browser's incognito or private browsing mode.

According to their newly clarified privacy policy, by default when you've logged in they do a lot if tracking and the different parts of their company share information. You can turn a lot of it off in the privacy settings.

According to the same privacy policy, they track virtually nothing if you're not logged in and nothing if you use private mode.
