Does Anyone care about/use standard video galleries anymore?
 

Just curious if it's worth even putting up old school video galleries anymore for affiliates in 2012 going forward.

By standard I mean under 90 secs total video and then chop them up into 3 or more videos with thumbs.

Seems most of the traffic comes to our FLV embed galleries (embedded mp4s) which are 3 min+ 1 video in an embedded video like this:

I go with the mp4/flv embedded ones. Even for submitters most tgps/mgps are accepting galleries with those.

Yeah, I like them better from a workflow point of view, but when I was doing them a few years ago I was told no MGP would accept them because it was just 1 video that was over 90 secs long.

Do MGP's allow 3min+ single video embed galleries now?

Affiliates that matter, have their own traffic, or usually ask for member access and they process their own promo material..

There are people still submitting to MGPs?

i have a network of blogs & sites that all do different things, so i use all of the things listed depending on the need.

pic & vid galleries are great for blogs where you're bouncing people straight to the sponsor. or when i host them locally, its easier to pull from a predetermined set rather than downloading full sets or vids and processing.

from a sponsor perspective, perhaps i'd start implementing galleries into part of the main site for 'deep linking' like RK , NA, and others do. best of both worlds

I've thought about it, except once in a while might get a traffic surge to the hosted gallery big enough to slow down the main tour so I wouldn't want em hosted on the same server as the tour.

Besides, if there's no links to the galleries (they all link to the nats domain when using a link code) from the tour will google give a shit?

I design alot of galleries for people and its about even split nowadays... Peopke want the multiple video galleries and some want the big single vids

hence the "deep link" strategy. if you're linking to them as well as your affiliates, surely google will give a shit. i know that may require (more or less) a complete overhaul of the main site, but that's the reason the big boys are doing it

Guess I would need to see an example of what you are talking about, or maybe I'm misunderstanding.

If it's just independent pages on the tour domain no overhaul to the main site needed. so not sure what you mean about the main site needing a "complete overhaul"?

it's part of their 'tour' as you can see. categorized, breadcrumb navigation, etc. so anyone could get there if they just visited rk.com. but it also has pics and a tube embed so it serves the same purpose as a gallery. i can attach my ?id=affiliate on that url and get credit, plus other parameters to make the whole gallery of images accessible.

i dont know your program or sites that well but looking at YourGirlfriends, i mean "overhaul" as in expanding the tour to have all of these types of gallery pages. so going to Our Girls for example would lead to clickable samples of images and video clips that would normally be in your TGP/MGP galleries

Ahh ok I see what you mean now. http://www.rk.com/round-and-brown/home.htm not really a "gallery" page, but I guess that might be considered a promo page with some low quality fhgs buried in there.

edit: yeah, like you said, FHG's deeper in except that i wouldnt consider them "low quality" :winkwink: plus they have extra parameters to enable all images and stuff

We have the ability to use deep linking to our sites with NATS, although I don't think all my affiliates are aware of this yet.

Maybe we are an oddity but traditional galleries still produce our greatest % of sales :Oh crap

The only other thing that works like it was 2003 .. mainstream media. And that is tough to come by.
