Banker Leaves 1% Tip On $133 Lunch Bill In Defiance of 'The 99%'
 

A banker left a 1% tip in defiance of 'the 99%' at a Newport Beach restaurant the other week, according to his dining companion and underling who snapped a photo of the receipt and posted it to his blog, Future Ex Banker. (Update: the blog is now offline.)

In posting the photo, the employee gave some background on his boss and the receipt:

'Mention the ?99%? in my boss? presence and feel his wrath. So proudly does he wear his 1% badge of honor that he tips exactly 1% every time he feels the server doesn?t sufficiently bow down to his Holiness. Oh, and he always makes sure to include a ?tip? of his own.'

The "tip" of his own in this case was to tell the server to "get a real job." Pleasant.

The whistleblower's Future Ex-Banker blog (now offline) included additional background on his boss, and some insight into why he would out his gross behavior, likely resulting in an employment status of current ex-banker:

If the service sucked she probably deserved it, but hes probably just a dick judging by his comment. I'm going to circle tip and write something like "refill my drink" next time I get bad service. Lets face it, most wait staff give bad service.

Actually i rarely get bad service the trick is to treat them like people and not servants.they will bendover backwards for you because you will be a breath of fresh air in their day.

Could be. Have you heard the expression "rings true"? Some things, when you hear them, just ring like a bell. Others have the "plop" sound of shit. This story just goes "plop" to me, like it's made up by someone trying to make success look bad, but they just aren't a very food storyteller.

It just sounds unlikely. I just now noticed the very professional photo of the reciept that the "employee" "snapped while the boss wasn't looking". If that's what he gets with a quick snap while the bosses head is turned, he should have quite a nice career as a photographer.

Oh well. These so called 'bad guys', (which have all been conveniently lumped into the same category) have been getting shit on by everyone. I don't find it all that shocking that they dish it back out.

Most of these 'bad guys' went to college 8-10 years, work 80 hours a week and gave up nearly everything to be in the position they're currently in.

I wonder if he is arrogant enough and dumb enough to go back to any of these restaurants. I grew up in and spent many years in the restaurant business. He has probably ingested a few bodily fluids unknowingly.

Never happened at our place where I worked thru college. But it was great to watch reaction.
We used to have this one bitch that would come in and order caesar salad and water at 2:30 PM and sit there and read her fucking book for two hours. Fine dining place, not TGI Fridays. Few drops of visine solved the problem every time.

Most of the people do not say the guys you mention here are "bad guys" per se. They mean only those that are being assholes and treat others like this one.

Some people deserve a good shit in their mouth from a homeless person after knocking them out followed up with a nice picture to reddit. Just to help them learn to be more humble and all. Just sayin'.
