The only reason anyone knows what poutine is outside of Canada is cause of Epic Mealtime. They've done more for poutine ... they should get Le Gran Prix D'honeur de Rose et Blanc de Noir Pour La Advenecemente de la Culture de La Gran Nord Blanc

Oh I wouldn't say that. Epic Mealtime isn't that well known. I think they're pretty dumb, actually.

By the way, this thread has made me plan today's lunch. :thumbsup

Kenny B! 03-08-2012 07:42 AM

Poutine is awesome! But you have to go in Quebec province to eat a good one.

SykkBoy 03-08-2012 12:05 PM

Mmm poutine...but I learned to not eat fast food poutine...packed with way too much salt...

seeandsee 03-08-2012 12:36 PM

In the basic recipe for poutine, French fries are topped with fresh cheese curds, and covered with brown gravy or sauce. The French fries are of medium thickness, and fried so that the inside stays soft, while the outside is crunchy. The gravy used is generally a light chicken, veal or turkey gravy, mildly spiced with a hint of pepper, or a sauce brune which is a combination of beef and chicken stock, originating in Quebec. Heavy beef or pork-based brown gravies are rarely used. Fresh cheese curds (not more than a day old) are used. To maintain the texture of the fries, the cheese curd and gravy is added immediately prior to serving the dish. The hot gravy is usually poured over the cold cheese curds, so that the cheese is warmed without completely melting. It is important to control the temperature, timing and order in which the ingredients are added so as to obtain the right food textures which is an essential part of the experience of eating poutine.

Mmmmmmmm i am hungry now :D

slanted poll much? it's a good indulgence now and then and considering some of the insane obsessions of americans loving to kill themselves with over the top foods I would imagine all of you would like it just the same as we do if you get over yourselves enough that it is considered canadian.
