I need help getting more traffic to my mainstream tech site
The site is there, the content is there, the traffic just isn't.
It updates every day with 3 well written articles about technology, hardware, internet etc but i'm not getting any Google lovin'. I did the article submitting, Facebook fan page, Youtube page and a bunch of other stuff one would do with mainstream sites but i'm just not satisfied with the traffic. It pisses me off because it really is a nice site. The only ads are a few Adsense blocks so that can't be a problem either. Any tips would be welcome. |
need better keyword research.

So that means once again you're full of shit. How long much longer will you push your incorrect views upon people? Acting like your way is right and if you don't follow it you will fail? It's getting old and boring. Or at least do it when you are right. Not wrong. |
just kidding. are people sharing your posts on twitter, facebook and so on? you may need more compelling, shocking, humorous, novel content that people will whore around the web. even one good piece a week will do wonders.

Does anybody know some good places for link exchanges?

The blog that gets 200 se hits a day (and growing) is about 5% in quality compared to this site. That's why it pisses me off. |
How many feeders do you have, how many link "trades", in what other fashions are you creating incoming links, are your articles targeting specific keywords, how long has your site been online?
You really haven't provided enough information for anyone to tell you why you aren't getting more search engine traffic. |
link? and good luck competing with TechCrunch, EnGadget, Mashable, etc

I know i'm not get #1 for Technology on Google. That shouldn't be a problem anyway. Plenty of other SE traffic. |
Guess i'm screwed then...

Lots of crap to wade through in here, but you might find a few decent sites for exchanges.

Actually, porno jew is right - you need to do a KW research for every post otherwise you are wasting your money (assuming you are paying for the posts) - no need to go crazy, but check the KW competition and search volume, it takes less than a minute to pick a decent KW.
Links - use the smaller blog networks to get contextual backlinks. BMR, ALN, and the like used to work really well, but I think Google caught up on them since many sites got hit in the past week or two and Google started sending out emails about "unnatural linking." Nearly all of these went to people that used the big blog networks. I have a six-year-old tech / computer site that still gets quite a bit of hits from Yahoo answers ? haven?t touched them in years, but some of these got achieved and Google ranks them really well. Not sure if they still work, but I?ve seen people offering them as a service on the boards, so they probably still do. Once your site ages a bit, then hit it with everything you can ? social bookmarks, article links, wikis, Web 2 properties, you name it. These are quite cheap and they still work despite what many people think. Link to your main site, link to inner pages, vary your anchors a lot, and you should see some traffic. I?m not a ?guru? and not pretending to be one, but I wouldn?t skip the keyword research part. |
Pick a subreddit that closely relates to your site, write an article that might be a little controversial but has an opinion that enough people will agree with it, offer some inside knowledge / new current technological advance and submit.
The extra traffic is of course a bonus, but if the article is decent, you'll get some good backlinks from closely related sites. Maybe even remove the ads or reduce them for this. |

If you can give me access to your stats, I can give you free advice
[email protected] What people fail to realize is that their stats are already telling them which traffic areas have "low hanging fruit." Of course, this applies to sites that have been around for at least 3 to 6 months. |
