Whenever I hear "tofu" I can not help but to think back to 1967 and Mary. Mary lived a couple doors down on the other side of the street. She was a year or two younger than me and so cute. She used to flirt with me and I gobbled it up. One night she invited me over to her house for dinner with her family (mom and an uncle). I was excited and honored. I had never seen Mary hanging out with any other guys, although many had tried.

Anyway, the big night comes I walk over to her house, sit down at the dinner table only to learn that they were all vegetarians. In 1967 I am not sure I even knew what a vegetarian was, but I got a crash course that night.

While I am aware that there is tofu available these days that is edible, back in those days it had zero flavor. As I recall they made some kind of meatloaf out of it. What I do recall with great clarity is that it sucked. I knew then I could never be a vegetarian and that Mary and I would never stand a chance together. :1orglaugh

Not really a steak but I am not going to complain. I had smoked leg of lamb. It was fantastic!

Mary later died of food poisoning after eating some bad spinach. I heard it was painful.

It's mostly a joke. As has been pointed out in other threads. It's the men's take on bullshit holiday's like Valentines day. It's even one month after, exactly :winkwink:

I don't think anyone takes it seriously.

ColBigBalls 03-15-2012 06:43 PM

Striploin with a blue cheese crust.

I think "the best" is a silly description when it comes to food. They are definitely my favorite (I guess for the fatty flavor), but before that I was on a filet mignon kick, because I assumed they were "the best" :1orglaugh
