Rick Santorum wants to ban hard-core pornography

Rick Santorum wants to put an end to the distribution of pornography in the United States.

"America is suffering a pandemic of harm from pornography," Santorum's official website reads. "Pornography is toxic to marriages and relationships. It contributes to misogyny and violence against women. It is a contributing factor to prostitution and sex trafficking."

The former Pennsylvania senator states that, "as a parent, I am concerned about the widespread distribution of illegal obscene pornography and its profound effects on our culture."

Santorum criticized the Obama administration for turning "a blind eye ... to the scourge of pornography" and for refusing to enforce obscenity laws.

Shotsie 03-16-2012 06:26 AM

Funny thing is, a couple of people on this board would probably still vote for him over Obama if it came down to it.

Godsmack 03-16-2012 06:40 AM

Sophie Delancey 03-16-2012 06:56 AM

But then what will he jerk it to while he cries about his sad, sad life?

tony286 03-16-2012 07:09 AM

If he got in, he would have large support to do it. If not ban it than they would put it a very small corner with limited access.

V_RocKs 03-16-2012 07:14 AM

And he will find out that the President doesn't run the country the same way Bush found that out.

Tom_PM 03-16-2012 07:17 AM

Always the same old things. Gay marriage = beast marriage and so forth. Couple that with education being a non-priority and you've got generations of slack wits willing to mob up on main street with pitch forks.

is it really? Most people like porn, and the ones who don't either have never seen it (almost impossible) or kidding themselves.

Name a congressman or senator that's going to say people have right to see porn. Also back in the day no one underage saw it because it was sold in stores where someone checked your id. And it wasnt given away for free to anyone with a mouse. So the argument was very different.

That makes sense, because most congressmen are men, and no man has watched or even likes porn.

Wizzo 03-16-2012 07:49 AM

Is this a surprise to anyone?

CIVMatt 03-16-2012 08:02 AM

congressmen watch porn, it would go nowhere

In this case, it's lucky for the rest of us peasants that congressmen do what's right for them, and not for the masses.

With people like Rick Santorum, it's about what HE wants for everyone. I don't understand how someone can be so evil that they want to control everyone else's private lives. He's dangerous. There's nothing more that can be said about him.

It's because there's enough dumb people to believe shit like it's us versus them. Us being decent people, them being the government. So vote me in fellow decent people, and we'll change them back into us. Every election is about changing them back into us and always will be. The trick is knowing which side of each wedge to be on.

Just speaking about how self righteous jerks like him get to positions of power. He probably actually believes he would be a good moral template. They all do.

davecummings 03-16-2012 08:50 AM

Yikes! Maybe Larry Flynt will find/expose some dirt on this guy.

Rochard 03-16-2012 09:02 AM

When I worked for Lightspeed Cash, Jennifer Granholm, then then attorney general for the state of Michigan was running for the governor and held a press conference announcing she was going to rid the Internet of pornography, starting with Tawnee Stone. Turns out it was nothing more than political grandstanding; She never had any intentions of doing anything - but just the thought of her doing anything made her look good.

This is more of the same. He'll talk loud, but if he even gets the nomination he'll never do anything. And he knows it.

he's the kind of guy that if he was in a different region of the world, could easily become a Kim Jong Il or Saddam Hussein type.

Anarchy? Are you kidding?

The only thing anarchy is good for is punk rock, same as dogs, gals, and trucks are to country music, good to croon on and on about but not much else.

Santorum Says Obama Not Enforcing Internet Porn Laws

Quote:

Campaigning in this Chicago suburb on Friday, Rick Santorum accused President Obama of failing to enforce an anti-Internet pornography law he worked to pass in the Senate and said that as president, he would do more to protect children from inappropriate online content.

The issue came up when Santorum was questioned by reporters about a Daily Caller article that quoted his website decrying the evils of pornography in American society and accusing the president of favoring pornographers over children.

"The Obama administration has turned a blind eye to those who wish to preserve our culture from the scourge of pornography and has refused to enforce obscenity laws. While the Obama Department of Justice seems to favor pornographers over children and families, that will change under a Santorum administration," the statement on Santorum's campaign website says.

Santorum said the criticism of Obama was posted on the site about three weeks ago. "We'll enforce the law. I don't know what the hubbub about that is. We have a president who is not enforcing the law, and we will."

His website also says, "A wealth of research is now available demonstrating that pornography causes profound brain changes in both children and adults, resulting in widespread negative consequences. Addiction to pornography is now common for adults and even for some children. The average age of first exposure to hard-core, Internet pornography is now 11. Pornography is toxic to marriages and relationships. It contributes to misogyny and violence against women. It is a contributing factor to prostitution and sex trafficking."

"scourge"? kinda makes me proud :)

gideongallery 03-17-2012 12:12 PM

he is right btw

even credit card verification is not good enough to keep little timmy from stealing his dad credit card to get access to porn.

So you guys are all guilty of distributing porn to minors.

Of course you will all come back that you should be responsible for the criminal activity of your user

Interestingly enough you don't have the same view when it tube site and copyright infringement.

uterpie 03-17-2012 06:53 PM

98% of women have used contraception, conservatives are against it. 98% of men have used pornography, conservatives are against it. Way to pick your battles, conservatives!
