It's been almost a year since I stopped smoking cigs

I'm so glad I kicked that nasty habit :pimp

DWB 03-24-2012 04:38 AM

Congrats!!! Do you actually feel better?

To each his own, but I don't understand why anyone would smoke knowing how horrible it is for you and everyone around you. And the stench is horrible. Your hair, clothes, breath, house, car... all of it smells like ass. Just don't understand why someone would do that to themselves. But like I said, to each his own. It's a free world. Kill yourself and smell horrible in the process at will.

seeandsee 03-24-2012 05:38 AM

Congrats, never take it again, i hope i can quit one day

Chosen 03-24-2012 06:05 AM

Congratulations :thumbsup

campimp 03-24-2012 06:54 AM

congrats .. just about a year here too and I feel a million times better. didn't go cold turkey though, got an e-cig I use when cravings really hit, so not completely off nicotine, but a year since I put any smoke in my lungs. nice to run up a flight of stairs again :)

ErectMedia 03-24-2012 07:00 AM

good stuff :thumbsup
I quit for over a year cold turkey but picked it back up. I do own 2 different e-cigs which may work better than cold turkey when I decide to try to kick the habit again. Think ya have to really wanna quit and not sure I'm 100% there yet.

lucas131 03-24-2012 07:03 AM

good for you man. just never put that crap to your mouth again :) i am like 11 months from last cigarette and i know it was my last one :)

you know, when you are young, you dont hear those warnings, you just see people around doing something cool :) maybe not now when the anticampaign is very strong, but when i started nobody showed me lung or stomach with cancer on every pack of cigarettes

Chezter 03-24-2012 07:52 AM

Congratulations man! I dont smoke three months now and I really feel great. Well it is true than in these three months I was not completely cig free, I had like 5 cigs in this time, but I still now consider myself as non smoker. It is great feeling, feeling like you really can achieve something when you want, even if it seems very hard, but when you actually try, it is not as hard as it seemed before tried.

jawanda 03-24-2012 07:55 AM

Congrats!!! I am just over THREE years and they have been EASY.

To anyone else who is trying to quit and has tried everything, I can't recommend enough this book:

The Easy Way to Stop Smoking by Allen Carr

I know it sounds unbelievable, but this guy is like magic. I am positive he saved my life. And it's an easy read ... you have NOTHING to lose (except $5 to pick up a used copy off Amazon)

Congrats again BAKO life without CIGS is so great and not scary at all!!

Good for you! Wish you more clean years!

MetaMan 03-24-2012 12:50 PM

Time to celebrate! Grab a smooooth smoke and light one up.

GT-Omar 03-24-2012 01:00 PM

Today marks my 13th day that I haven't smoked a cigarette, (and I was a pack and 1/2 a day smoker) so far so good. Been fighting off the urges with the electric cigarettes, but even that I'm starting to ween of of also. Congrats on the year Bako. From someone trying to do the same I know how hard it can be.

Never smoked but have a knack for picking young tramps that do.

.

Scott McD 03-24-2012 02:39 PM

Smoked about 20 cigs in my lifetime. And even that was 20 too many.

The smell on my fingers the next day, eughh ! Makes me think about people who sit and smoke 30 or 40 every day. Not good!

Juicy D. Links 03-24-2012 03:00 PM

I am going on 13 months now

ajrocks 03-24-2012 05:41 PM

Good for you man. Its been 3 for me but It's still a struggle. That nasty habit is still the most fun habit I ever had. I'd trade it all for one more smoke!

I tried that book and it didn't work for me at all. I'm just going to have to quit cold turkey. This will be the easiest way for me.

Rochard 03-24-2012 11:32 PM

It's been about five years for me.

I can go to a show and smoke for a few days, then walk away for it for the next year with no problems. It's nice.

vegasinc 03-25-2012 12:56 AM

Congrats Bako. That's really cool. :) Over 10 years clean from cigs here.

I had tried many times using all kinds of stop smoking products. Cold turkey and a lot of determination finally worked.

Dirty F 03-25-2012 12:59 AM

I only smoke a few cigs when i'm having a drink.

Barry-xlovecam 03-25-2012 08:25 AM

Been 2 1/2 years here -- gets easier with time ... :thumbsup

geedub 03-25-2012 10:28 AM

Props, 7 years here.

just a punk 03-25-2012 10:31 AM

Haven't smoked a cigarette for many years (don't even remember the exact number). However I like to smoke a good cigar once a month or so :)

asdasd 03-25-2012 10:47 AM

easy to confuse no longer being addicted with the ability to control the addiction.

gabe100 03-25-2012 11:28 AM

30 years, pack of reds every day.

Today is my 3rd day off cigs and the mind games are in full effect. I almost threw a phone out the window, ive cussed out customers, bitched out friends, told one homie to lose my number. People that know me might think this is normal behavior... but I am so on edge right now.

im looking for excuses to be pissed off so i can race for a smoke and calm down. I've never quit.

Going to Phoenix and not smoking is going to be a challenge.

Tom_PM 03-25-2012 01:06 PM

Congrats, BAKO and every one who's kicked it.

I smoked for 30+ yrs and quit about a year after the old stent was installed. Stay motivated. Been a couple yrs here.

Peter-Porn 03-25-2012 01:19 PM

Very well ... i have 2 months and its still hard without..

kb24 03-25-2012 03:04 PM

Yes i feel much better and food tastes much better now. Overall I feel rejuvenated :upsidedow

topwebmodels_chris 03-26-2012 03:43 PM

Good for you! I used to smoke camel non filters and it was a bitch to quit. All of my friends smoke and it was very difficult to stop because each time I went out with friends, they are lighting up one. I could not quit my friends so I had to have will power and finally quit smoking that stuff. You feel better too!

TurboAngel 03-27-2012 09:47 AM

That's great news congrats!

AlfalfaReborn 03-27-2012 11:36 AM

Congratulations. That's a tough habit to break.

LeRoy 03-27-2012 11:40 AM

Congrats!

I smoked cigs for a while. When the cost went to 4 something. it was pretty easy to quit.

I'm a cheap bastard lol

Still smoke free in 2016?

Rochard 02-12-2016 02:20 PM

I haven't had a smoke in years. The smell alone makes me sick now.

I feel so much healthier.
