Content on a Paysites' backend?
Would greatly appreciate any sort of response on this!
When users sign up for a free trial paysite, what kind of videos and pictures do they see on the backend? Is it all ripped content taken from tube sites and uploaded to their own server? If so, any legal implications other than taking it down if the copyright owner comes knocking? |
If it's a free trial it's likely very limited (only can see a couple movies or whatever) and has one click charges once the member clicks around. Likely pre-checked charges or other things as well to monetize the member.
Unless you're talking about a tube 'Premium' free upsell? Many of those are white labels to big DVD programs. |
no most paysites dont steal content.

^ And no, I didn't post looking for backers. Typical forum members assuming postcount is in direct correlation with how much money someone makes. So general consensus seems to be that you need legit content on the backend. Does anyone know of any companies who own content and re-sell/lease? |
Dont forget to bang their cards until they ask to desist

There are a shit ton of content providers these days. When I started, three photographers provided 80% of the content, but there are now hundreds. Post a thread asking for the specific type of content you are looking for.
I'm going to rephrase your original question: Is it a good idea to base my business model on theft? Not if you plan to be in business more than a couple of months. If you plan to actually build a business, most any business, you buy from wholesalers, add value, do marketing, and sell retail. Stealing from other sites is exactly the same thing as trying to run a store and stock it by shoplifting from other stores. Stupid, wrong, illegal, and much less effective than buying wholesale. |
