Samsung Galaxy SII (ICS)

Owners of Samsung Galaxy SII running Android 4 (Ice Cream Sandwich), do you root your phones?

shake 05-03-2012 12:15 PM

No here, keeping it factory for now

Scott McD 05-03-2012 12:23 PM

Personally to me it works faster than Gingerbread. Actually it was the only reason I did upgrade.

Yes I know what you mean :) Actually my smartphone is not just a phone. It's my real personal computer which does a lot of other tasks. If I will wait for a new version, I never buy it, because there always will be something newer.

P.S. You know, I'm not just a regular user. I'm a coder.

I was thinking about rooting my android ( it is a desire hd) and upgrading to ice cream sandwidth.. but having a hard time find programs on the mac to upgrade it

Launched today... That's something new. I'll wait, also.

SZNY 05-03-2012 04:15 PM

specs looks damn good, wireless charging, eye movement recognition, NFC with Wifi Direct and more. Apple will have to come with something real good to gain their leading position

journalism 05-03-2012 04:31 PM

nope.....

jigg 05-03-2012 04:32 PM

rooting is such a pain in the ass, keep reading about people with issues running rooted roms. Plus i'm using the T-Mobile USA version of the GSII which has a different radio and processor

i'm not even sure I want to upgrade my GSII to Ice Cream Sandwich, my upgrade from 2.1 to 2.2 on my other phone got me tons of bugs that were never addressed by T-Mobile or Samsung

Alex69 05-03-2012 04:34 PM

mine just updated automatically
honestly i liked it more before update

candyflip 05-03-2012 07:53 PM

Who cares about the S2 after today. I was about to upgrade a few weeks back and am very glad that I held off.

That said I will have mine on day one and it will be rooted as soon as possible. Fuck the carrier branded OS bullshit that comes loaded on it.

Can't agree on that. I always root all my android devices and have no problems with them. The only un-rooted one is SGSII because its running IGS. However, its also was rooted when the OS wasn't upgraded yet.

I see. This could be an issue.

I do :)

Actually I'm still not sure if I need a mobile phone with a quad-core CPU. My working desktop PC has only 2 cores :)

Jakez 05-04-2012 12:53 AM

No idea what rooting is. I'm new to Android. But I never jailbroke my iphone either.

This made me chuckle - Read it as someone with limited tech knowledge, your nan or elderly aunt....

MPGdevil 05-04-2012 03:14 AM

Haven't tried to root it but installed Nova Launcher after upgrading to ICS and so far I'm satisfied with it.

joerudy1988 05-04-2012 06:32 AM

S3 looks great
