I was under the impression that he was always this religious, but that it was just becoming public knowledge now.

That's not true at all. He may have been "christian" but he was admittedly living foul in terms of partying and fucking around on his woman. This is definitely a new thing for him.

People used to love Manny because of how humble they perceived him, because for a while he was kind and humble.

Once they started hearing about his ego, him cheating on his wife, drinking and partying, cussing out his trainers, etc.. They realized he turned into a dick.
