Little Swallow [pics of Birds inside]

a swallow family moved to our house. They built a pretty nest, and a few days ago I noticed the newborns:

Yesterday I arrived home to see my daughters crying and my gf worried because one of the little swallows fell out of the nest!! :helpme The gardening system made the poor little bird wet...

So I picked up the swallow, got a ladder, and put it back to the nest:

Have you ever kept such a small and fragile little bird in your hands? :) Ultra-cute!!

We had them until I got fed up with the babies dropping out and the dropping on the porch and on the landing outside.

Nice to see them fly around over the garden and a few weeks ago had some fly into the house. They flew out.

Living in the countryside we get polecats, rabbits, shrews, mice and even see the occasional deer in the fields at the back. :)

That is a myth in regards to ALL animals

Great Job Keep Them Alive

Cool. You're doing the right thing.
It's great to live in semi-rural. Last night I almost got run over by a deer spooked by a couple of dogs. This years count 7 come to feed in the back yard. Now as soon as the pears drop off the neighbors tree my biggest worry will be deer poo in the backyard.
Damn I just looked at the window. It rained last night, 1st time in weeks and a deer is grazing at the top of the hill. It's a new young buck. Now he has to go out and find a new herd. Sort of like finding a new way to make money in porn.

For domesticated animals probably. People shouldn't be picking up wild animal babies.

John-ACWM 06-21-2012 07:31 AM

:) take good care of them!

A group of swallows is called a flight.

Fun fact'd!

Tijuana_Tom 06-21-2012 07:40 AM

CaptainWolfy 06-21-2012 08:08 AM

i have them every year at about same time in the attic of my house

Spunky 06-21-2012 10:20 AM

I like the swallows, hate the crows as they invade the nests and eat the babies

2MuchMark 06-21-2012 10:54 AM

Wow that is really cool! Has Mom come back to feed them? Are they still doing ok? Maybe you should call a Vet and ask what else you can do for them. So cute! I love birds (and all animals).

I know. We had a nest of eggs we could see from our back balcony and waited a month for them to hatch. One day they did and were squawking like crazy, but they weren't protected and a crow came along and gobbled them up. Poor little things.

Mother wont flee if you touch them but they will if you continually hinder their 'job' .... so checkemout but do it in moderation :)

Deej 06-21-2012 12:56 PM

Theyll do it again too so put something cushioned below if you can. cause soon they will be being pushed out from their size and that small next but they will also be trying to fly within the month.

I try to not bother them. I am not touching the nest of course and try to not let the kids stay around there so the parents can continously feed the little ones. I am just taking 1-2 shots occasionally..

Of course I put a carpet there and placed some soft stuff too so no chance of bad accident ;)

pornguy 06-29-2012 06:24 AM

we took care of a wild bird for about 6 weeks but he was not doing well. Not growing despite our efforts and finally died.

No, all 5 kids and all 3 adults are doing well! :) the nest is becoming too small... I expect them to start Learning to Fly during the weekend.
