Would like to know what a market exists for.

I'm just looking to see if anyone has anything particularly innovative in mind.

Love your avatar bTW....:thumbsup

"everything has been invented"

- no - you can usually tweak some code on
programs on the market and create for yourself
a killer app.

Thanks and while I agree I am more inclined to offer systems than individual software to address single tasks. You reference client software while I speak also of corresponding custom servers.

Just note.large, integrated packages were popular 1995-2005. As a whole, the software industry is returning to the tried and true philosophy of individual components which do one thing and do it well, sometimes with a thin interface layer which bring the discrete components together VISUALLY.

An example of why would be a CMS designed five years ago. It would likely be heavily reliant on Flash, which is now being retired, and would likely have ignored mobile, which is now very important. A highly integrated "do everything" CMS designed five years ago would be useless today. Where integration is important, an easily updateable CMS would be a thin interface atop jwplayer and smarty, but preferably keeping components as seperate as possible. RSS was a big deal a few years ago. Now it's Facebook and Wordpress. A simple, single purpose gallery builder can integrate with either.

Raymor, very true, but you should have waited another minute and quoted the end portion. I'm not specifically referencing front end php style websites but rather client/server threaded socket programming and the like.

You are totally right though, as I find myself using php nowadays to output xml or delimited rows to be read by something that indeed does resemble flash ;) Php has become a database interface more than anything and no longer the client's gui.

I also stand by my statement of mobile devices being a poor person market. I'm not looking to attract bus riding, university dwelling customers. I want the housewife or business man and their 12k mac desktop. Disposable income in itself is the fashion statement, not the device.

Good post however all that has really happened is the C has been pushed lower and more out view, a dumb person's experience, but it is still the basis.
