Ive wanted to make my own BBQ sauce for a while now and havent gotten around to doing it. I recorded a couple Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives the other day because they had a couple diners that made their own. 1 was a blueberry BBQ sauce... They didnt give the measurements but they gave all the ingredients and I was going to guess at the amounts. I will let you know if I figure it out.
This is another one from them: starts at 1:35 https://youtube.com/watch?v=mf7ialy6cRI |

Sweet, salty, sour, heat...
Balance is the key - Add some lemon and then some sweet etc.... |
The thing about BBQ sauce is there isn't really a wrong way to make it. Just start putting stuff together in a small pot on the stove and keep mixing till its more or less what you were after, or maybe something totally different that you still like. As long as its got vinegar, salt and spicyness its going to taste like BBQ sauce.

I made BlueBerry and Peach BBQ using the recipe above. They actually didnt come out too badly. Im more of a Honey BBQ fan so will be making something of that variety next. Im not a huge fan of vinegar based BBQ sauces though. I just moved from Massachusetts to North Carolina so my BBQ world as I knew it came to a grinding halt since back home everything was mollasses based and here is all vinegar based sauces.
Definitely update this if you come up with any other good recipes. |
