NRA to Hold Rally Near Aurora Movie Theater

I predict....

Would support a NRA rally near the movie theater?

or should the NRA shut the fuck up?

TheSenator 07-20-2012 12:10 PM

According to the NRA twitter pages...

https://twitter.com/NRA

https://twitter.com/NRANews

Its like the shooting never happened.

NRA Tweet: Pro-Gun Group Sends Out Unfortunate Message After Aurora Shooting

American Rifleman@NRA_Rifleman
Good morning, shooters. Happy Friday! Weekend plans?

Ron Bennett 07-20-2012 12:19 PM

If every moviegoer had a gun, the shooter would have been stopped sooner. Not saying I agree with that, but that's what many gun rights supporters believe.

On a related topic, it will be interesting to see how the movie theater industry handles the fallout from this mass shooting ... More security / pat-downs? Restrictions on fan costumes? Less late night screenings?

Yes because 5 guys shooting it out in a dark crowded movie theater is better than 1.

People who agree with that are fucking idiots.

And the guy snuck back in through an emergency exit door that he opened. Some type of alarm (even if silent) on those doors might have stopped him sooner. That's the only thing I see worth updating.

..Because it's much better when everyone is defenseless.

It's fact that towns with mandatory gun ownership laws have the lowest crime rates. Just as with drugs, you will never get rid of guns. So is the solution to outlaw guns as we've done with drugs (look at the failure that is the war on drugs)? The solution is obvious, advocate for gun ownership.

Towns with mandatory gun laws are usually small towns. Where you would be comfortable leaving your door unlocked because everyone knows everyone. You can't compare a small town to medium/large towns and cities.

Multiple people shooting in this theater would have ABSOLUTELY made this a lot worse than it was. You can deny that all you want...it won't change the truth.

BTW: I support the 2nd amendment and everyones right to own guns. In this particular case though it would have made matters worse IMO.

He shot over 50 people. I doubt it could have been much worse had a shootout erupted between himself and an armed theater patron. The way it's been described in press reports, those poor folks were being shot like monkeys in a barrel. Being unarmed, they had no chance.

BTW, mass shooters have been stopped before by armed people at the scene. Some people refuse to be victims. Others, for whatever reason, prefer to be helpless and, I guess, wait in line for their bullet. To each his own.

a gun owner and a gun nut are two different people :2 cents:

You will never get rid of drugs because for the most part they are produced from nature. Do you have a gun garden in your backyard?

Site Collector 07-20-2012 01:41 PM

if the NRA is doing that they are really retarded. they need to fire the person running the show. im all for having guns and baring arms but to hold a rally right after a collosal tragic event like this is stupid.

no one should blame them, the right to bare arms is our right. but this battle needs to be waged on another day, have respect for victims and their families.

In fact, the direct opposite is true.

The NRA held a rally in Denver just days after Columbine against the wishes of the mayor of Denver and the victims of the families of Columbine.
