Web hosting issues

First question, is why the hell is it next to impossible to get a good amount of IPs out of the web host? When I'm paying $600 for a powerful two-cpu server, i need a bit more than 5 IPs.

Second issue is what the hell am I supposed to write in the "IP Justification form" if I'm using them for SEO and generally just want my websites to be on a unique IP?

:Oh crap

Talk to either Amerinoc or Mojo (No Ref Links) Problem solved :)

Change your host if they only bitching around.

SEO is not justification for additional IP's. We have a ton available, but I would not expect to find that just anywhere.

Freaky_Akula 08-15-2012 02:46 PM

Most hosts that are serious about their business will be able to help you. But stay away from hosts specialized in "seo hosting".

As mentioned in an earlier reply, SEO and wanting to have unique IPs are not justified reasons for additional IPs. Sure, if IPv4 addresses were more readily available as they were in years past, no problem, but sadly that's not the case anymore.

A lot of providers are strict on giving out these IPs also for the idea of Abuse and getting them blacklisted. Not to say this has any bearing in your case but it's just an additional reason.

Good luck!

many hosts are running low on ips and they just dont want to assign too many per server.

That could be the case with 'some' hosting companies I suppose. If they can't justify their current allocation, they have a hard time getting new one's. That being said, there are plenty of web hosting companies out there with plenty of IP's.

We sell them all day long, and I can assure you there is no shortage if you have the cash to pay for them (/24, /18, /16..).

:pimp

For justification, just say you need "SSL secure ordering for credit cards" I've had no problems getting 2000 IP addresses on a single server with that. I had 2000 domain names hosted on that server though. If the hosting co is bitching about it, pick another. Hosting is probably the most competitive business on the internet next to porn.

Exactly. Just like porn, there are some run by businessmen, and others by hobbyists.

:2 cents:

Why is that? Lloyd delivers the largest variety.

What would be a good justification for extra IPs?

hostcentrex 08-16-2012 08:57 AM

We understand you completely. Generally we don't require justification unless you are requesting a class C or more, which is understandable. If you would like assistance with completing the IP justification form, I would have happy to give you a hand.

No strings attached, just one person helping out another, with the hopes that maybe some day you will think of us when you need another server.

email me, [email protected], or on skype jjw8188.

Some host will do your justification form up for you if you infact can justify the need for the ips under arin's requirements , We have done this in the past
