Director Tony Scott Calls it a Wrap

His movies were okay. My favorite being "True Romance".

Guess the devil came to collect the debt.

Nasty 08-19-2012 11:08 PM

Vapid - BANNED FOR LIFE 08-19-2012 11:10 PM

I watched that for the first time last month. It was decent. No fear and loathing or heat but decent.

Maybe he got some bad medical news. 68 after all...I liked The Hunger with Bowie as well. Not bad. Ridley gets it right though...

xenigo 08-20-2012 12:01 AM

Could have... could have also just done it for the thrill and thought it was a lot deeper than it was in reality. Could have been a lot of things... I find it quite odd they jump to "suicide" as a conclusion when there's a lot of crazy-ass thrill seekers out there that do base-jumping on an almost daily basis on things much more extreme than simply a bridge. Bridge is basically for base-jumping wannabe's...

Anyway... There's a million things you can do with a bridge besides suicide. Seems a little... premature of a conclusion.

There was a suicide letter in his car, so i read somewhere.

The Ghost 08-20-2012 12:07 AM

RIP

Guess he won't be directing Top Gun 2

Mutt 08-20-2012 12:20 AM

Married with two sons - pretty shitty thing to do to them even if it was something like bad medical problem. He could have taken an overdose of pills or slit his wrists. Seems like an attention whore type of suicide. But he was a thrill seeker so maybe that's why he chose jumping off a bridge - what a way to go, hope he didn't have second thoughts on his way to his death.

Read the same, note in his car and note on his desk.

Pretty sad when people choose suicide.

xenigo 08-20-2012 01:13 AM

Yeah... agreed... kind of an extreme way to go.

Deej 08-20-2012 01:14 AM

Ive actually had a near fistacuffs fight with a good friend over true romance. he says it in the top3 if not his favorite movie...

I told him its not shit. he said name a better movie and I said Crank. Now I think crank is a lame movie too, but I aid it to piss him off I guess but what I said I felt.

True Romance has One good scene in it and its not even with the stars. Walken is the only good part of that movie.

Resevoir Dogs. Highly overrated movie as well.

It's his life. Meaning, it's his choice on what he would like to do with it.

It has nothing to do with his kids, auntie, granny, or anyone else's selfish interests.

Same here.

While he seemed to be in love with Denzel the past decade, he still made decent movies.

:Oh crap

you gotta be kidding me - when you have a family, suicide is a selfish act unless you are facing an imminent shitty death. i have friends whose parents have committed suicide, one walked into his house from high school to find his mom's brains splattered all over the living room, i also know parents who have had their teenage kid kill himself. It devastates those left behind for the rest of their lives.

DamageX 08-20-2012 06:09 AM

So what did the suicide note say?

RandyD 08-20-2012 06:12 AM

Love to know why this fucker, thought his life was so shite.

Death does that regardless. It's going to impact you. To think otherwise is fodder.

:2 cents:

CurrentlySober 08-20-2012 06:14 AM

if I were to choose suicide, I'd simply write a note, lay on my bed, and take a HARDCORE overdose of Heroin...

Go to sleep in the nicest, happiest way possible, and not cause anyone any extra work, other than removing my body from my house in the same way they would have anyway, had I died naturally in my sleep...

Why use a bridge? Why use manpower? Why use rescue services? Why upset witnesses? NO NEED - THATS JUST SELFISH... :2 cents:

i'll agree that both those movies are a bit over rated. Generally it was the comic book crowd that went ape shit for these movies, and it was definitely marketed towards them. But they were pretty well done given the scale budgets they were given, and both of them were a lot of fun to watch.

They are both far better than crank though, that was a bag of shit ;)

So he made a film in which the goivt were portrayed as the baddies, and now a mere 14 (There are 14 generations between 3 Hebrew patriarchs, leading to the birth of Christ. 14 X 3 = 42, which is how many Hebrew characters (letters) are used to spell the unpronounceable name of God. http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_is_th..._the_number_14 ) years later we have his 'suicide', with '2' 'suicide' 'notes'. We need johnnyclips and ninavain to take a far closer look at this methinks.

At least 8 of those movies would make it into my top 100 movies if I had to pick. He made some great movies recently, Unstoppable was excellent. Anything with Denzel Washington is good tho.

True Romance is a pretty damn good movie. A Tarantino screenplay, if I remember correctly. The film will forever be famous for the scene between Dennis Hopper and Christopher Walken.

J. Falcon 08-20-2012 08:51 AM

A lot of crappy movies on that list.

LeRoy 08-20-2012 08:55 AM

Tough way to go!

Leaving people that love you isn't good :(

JackieRose 08-20-2012 09:30 AM

Watching someone die a slow death over a period of a year compaired to a suicide, I think I would take that year. say everything I want to say and how much I love them blah blah, compaired to having not being able to say anything and to convince them to stay with me longer I feel would be much harder on the family. the wife would be devastated with a suicide I would think thus being a much longer time of grieving. Although i don't think you ever stop grieving over someone close to you.

I've had a hard time with my father's death and it will be 2 years next month. I couldn't imagine a suicide death. But, it is their life too one never knows what someone else goes thru to come to that conclusion of their life.

A sad sad day for the family for sure.

Didn't know that when I posted, But if that is the case. after watchin g someone die a slow cancer death I can understand his choice now. I would never go thru what my dad did. And I suppose he didn't want that either so he chose to go out his way, much respect to him for the battle of the descision as to which way he wanted to go and If he was a thrill seeker then the way he went makes some kind of sense. Maybe not to his family but for him that is the way he chose to go. Sad really!
