Mercedes CLS Shooting Brake - the car Mercedes thinks Americans won't buy (PICS)
Here's the new Mercedes CLS Shooting Brake - the first Mercedes since a long time that i really like.
But Mercedes will sell it only in Europe and Asia, not on the American market. Are they making a mistake? http://cdn1.spiegel.de/images/image-...eryV9-ycvg.jpg http://cdn2.spiegel.de/images/image-...eryV9-yzku.jpg http://cdn1.spiegel.de/images/image-...eryV9-okxq.jpg http://cdn1.spiegel.de/images/image-...eryV9-cbmd.jpg http://cdn2.spiegel.de/images/image-...eryV9-dcxv.jpg |
Station wagons made their way out in the 90's. I surely wouldn't buy that ugly ass thing. Specially with the wood grain trunk. JUNK!
|
It is a pretty ugly looking car so other than the obvious what are its selling points?
|
Nothing like a $60k car to haul a bunch of crap in
|
why would anyone buy that piece of shit?
|
awesome car!
|
ugly for me :)
|
Station wagon...it won't sell in the U.S.
Those went out of style in the 1970's |
Fuck thats some nasty car.
Looks like a funeral car, I see a lot of space for a coffin. |
ok, i see they were right with their decision :1orglaugh
we do like station wagons over here but we also think pickup trucks are only useful for gardeners :upsidedow |

Looks like a hearse.

they are obsessed with that sloped back, bad
|
You have horrible taste.
|
wagons dont sell in the US.
|
Haha. No way. Ugly as fuck.
|
UGLY. So much fail. I hated my SL Mercedes. Nice looking 95k piece of junk. Audi FTW

Is it just me or is Mercedes making uglier and uglier cars the past decade or so?

This is the Mercedes you like....Really?hahaha
|
Mercedes has been down this path in the US already, as has BMW.
:2 cents: |
They tend to make station wagons very fast.
|
i like it i love the boot
|
I'd rock it but that wood floor is a bit overkill. I wouldn't want to worry about scratching it every time i put anything into the boot...
|
I'm sure it drives nice but not diggin the looks :2 cents:
|
I drive a CLS63 AMG. 2010 model. Before the redesign.
I hate the new body style. So there's no way I could ever digest this glorified station wagon aka "shooting brake" I'm waiting on the CLA. That might get me to buy a new car. Otherwise it's the 2013 M5 for me. |
i don't like though im a fan of mercedes
|
Stationwagons are quite popular in Australia and I have to say that is one ugly car.
The cargo area is also a joke, are they kidding us with a rear door that is lucky to fit a suitcase through it? |
Looks like the dodge magnum. I could be wrong but I don't think the magnum was a big seller.
|
the AMG version of that is going to be a wild ride

I will occasionally babysit the car when my wife goes grocery shopping just to ward off door dingers and drive-by bumper scuffers. I figure if I'm standing there it may be less likely to happen. Anyway, it's one thing when it's a relatively inexpensive vehicle... and a completely different thing when it's a $100k piece of kit. I'd love to own the new F30 M3. Rumored to have 450hp... and much tighter steering ratio than typical 3 series as far as I know... |

i would definitely prefer this one : C63 AMG Black Series T:

This one is a kick ass monster :D

i miss the American family station wagon, had a lot of fun as a kid in the back of station wagons. The faux wood panelling on the sides lol love it.
i wish they'd design some cars with harder edges - every car design for the last 25 years is all rounded - they all look the same to me, whether it's a $20k car or $90k car. about 20 years ago they started designing retro looking baseball and football stadiums, all the high tech modern stuff in the stadiums but the design was classic architecture from the early to mid 20th century - they should do it with car designs. |
I own a 85 300TD Euro wagon (special import) Plus a 99 E320 Wagon and just sold the 82 300TD wagon I had been driving for a couple years. Great cars. The 99 wagon is fast, while still pulling in 27 mpg, handles like it's on rails and can fit 7 (I have a family of 5 so it's this or a mini van) The 85's a diesel gets 32, seats 7 is dirt cheap to work on and is FREE. (No matter what you spend on it in maintenance or fuel you'll get it back in spades when and if you ever sell it) My last one, I spent 1000 bucks on it, put another 2k into it restoring it and sold it for 5k cash. That new clk is sick, I love that wood floor, I wish MB would go back to using more real wood. My 99 is way to much plastic.
GO get in one and take it on a 600 mile trip, you will understand why there are so nice. Course, I'm poor, But it's nice to see the car I'll be able to buy in 2024... |
|
If I had to haul stuff I would prefer one of those over a minivan. But I prefer my Cayenne for that duty.
And to the previous poster. Even when Hummers were at their most popular you rarely saw them. They didn't make many. What you see everywhere in the US is minivans and pickup trucks. |
Looks like some car / boat hybrit with all that wood in the back.. :Oh crap
