Those of you on Facebook your 2006 to 2009 private messages are now public on your timeline
I did a search and didn't see anybody else post on this. I just checked my own account and that was the case. I checked a few of my industry friends and all the same thing public private messages. Just a heads up to get that removed.
Here is a link about it http://www.haverhillecho.co.uk/news/...tips-1-4305508 |

How would you know if your friends posts you were seeing weren't public to begin with? |

If i'm wrong i'm wrong. Definitely worth reviewing. From what i've seen it looks like there is some sort of private exchanges that landed on timeline

Im going through my friends profiles now, nothing looking private. Plus these are people who are computer illiterate and dont check their profiles often so I am confident they haven't removed anything |

Good thing after Im done PM ing someone I always delete them box

Those articles are dated or refer to an event from several days ago, so if it really was a SNAFU by FB I'm sure it would be fixed by now.
It's probably more a case of FB displaying things that the user could see anyway (IF they went hunting for it), but now it just gets displayed more prominently. Like your news feed showing when your friend comments on something, and what they said... a year ago you would have only seen this if you viewed their wall... and you would have had to click on the link to read the content. It's not a privacy breach but every little change like this does increase the creepy factor. |
Facebook ?
|
I think someone try to pull my leg
|
a lot of things used to be posted as public when they were comments on a status but most people didn't realize at the time so would post quite private information and mistakenly think it was hidden. timeline has just made them notice it being visible several years too late.
|
|
You gotta be a damn fool to put personal information on a site like Facebook lol...
|
No they are not.

I post jokes, parties and pics of my kids. They can have fun with that all day long and I could care less.
All my porn connections are very respectful about NSFW. It's mainly my non-porn friends that post booty pages and babe pics. I have more porn friends than high school friends lol. ... It's open and everybody can see my page :) |

Is anyone surprised?
Google and Facebook want to outlaw privacy. |
no they are not, you dont know anymore what you wrote those days.
|
I always found it silly to update your personal life and comment to all your friends on that site. That's just me though.
Shap, do you have any good ventures going on? I have a really good one and just wondering if you're still looking for a place to invest? mjmj 00 aol |
nothing on my shit line
|
*shrug*
The only reason I use Facebook is to snoop on others, who are dumb enough to post personal shit on there. |
there were a few in my timeline from 2009, the year I joined facebook. This may be the last straw for me and I might take down my personal account
|
cool story bro :)
|
I went through and saw some things that I didn't think were supposed to be public. They were all bunched together in on pane (1 for each year).
I just trashed the pane. |
i deleted all my personal accounts and only have a fake account to catch up with people
|
All of you deleting your accounts/info, you do realize the data isn't gone, right?

Some messages I am 90% sure were private are now being shown on my Timeline.

shap's right, i saw plenty of steamy private shit. apparently it didn't affect everyone though, making those who saw shit look like we saw a bigfoot or UFO

I know that's not quite what you meant, but it shows that even "consumers" can access data long after it's supposedly deleted. |

Nothing on facebook is really private!
One of the best known private biometrics databases is maintained by Facebook. Facebook?s face recognition service allows users to find and tag their friends, and due to the high number of photos uploaded to and tagged on Facebook, the service has seen dramatic increases in accuracy over the last several years. Facebook currently has over 845 million monthly active users, and requires each of those users to sign up under their real names. Facebook then makes its users? names and primary photos public by default. The government regularly mines this data to verify citizenship applications, for evidence in criminal cases, and to look for threats to U.S. safety and security.
It is likely the government will try to find a way to take advantage of Facebook?s face recognition service for each of these purposes soon. |
I'm kind of worried one of my gay flirts gets out on facebook. I'm too lazy to check though. One of my friends who constantly harassed me to send him dick pics. :Oh crap
|
|
I thought Facebook WAS "the Internet".
|
good time to check all the hot chicks you know to see if they mention taking it up the pooper :1orglaugh
|
Cool. :D
|
I don't give a fuck :pimp
|
I can give 2 shits!

If you don't like the bumps and occasional glitches then go back to MySpace. Or Friendster. Or Xanga.
