Steve Jobs. One Year Today

One year ago a great visionary died. Without him Maybe, we wouldn't have our beloved industry as we know it. He brought personal computers into our homes, always pushed the limit...

RIP Steve

"Here?s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They?re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can?t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do"

- Steve Jobs

Truly an inspiration to a lot of us. Can't believe it's been a year already, but he was one man that changed the world :2 cents:

NinjaSteve 10-05-2012 10:10 AM

No.. But his existence absolutely did. Billions of people can say the same about him. How many will say that about you or I? Hundreds at most?

Give the man his due.

helterskelter808 10-05-2012 10:35 AM

Yes. He was truly the greatest, most influential, most important and most charismatic man the world has ever seen.

Let's remember that without Steve Jobs we would not have computers, music players, phones, fire and the wheel.

Relentless 10-05-2012 10:39 AM

We would have all those things... But they would all suck.

A Zune? Windows Vista? Ipaq cellphones? CDs and floppy discs?

helterskelter808 10-05-2012 11:12 AM

Of course, because everything "sucked" before Steve Jobs condescended to make stuff, didn't it?

ottopottomouse 10-05-2012 11:24 AM

Can't have a sensible argument with religious people.

Great way of putting it in perspective.

A CEO died. The company has gone on.

Do people also celebrate the year anniversaries of Sam Walton dying?

Sly 10-05-2012 01:13 PM

Liberals worshiping an extreme pro-business tyrant.

Never stops being funny.

He has left a huge legacy. It's not just about technology.

Markul 10-05-2012 01:55 PM

There are literally thousands of people that deserve more praise than him, but to each his own I guess.

RIP

LeRoy 10-05-2012 02:24 PM

Gone too soon

I was thinking the same thing. Although I did wipe my iTouch and reload all of my music back onto it while I was working today.

DamageX 10-05-2012 03:33 PM

Been a year already? Haven't even had time to miss him.

WebCashMaker 10-05-2012 06:34 PM

No, but many celebrate the lives of Tesla, Edison, Franklin and others whose lives changed our world for the better.
He was a very flawed person, but his mark on the western world will be felt for decades or centuries. Much like theirs.

He presided over multiple companies that revolutionized home computing, animated films, telecom, purchasing music, mobile devices, marketing via traditional media, marketing via new media, branding, packaging.... Any idea how many patents he is involved with? He was not defined by the Mac, in fact he proved he was bigger than Apple if you look at what he did while away and what thy did with him vs without him. Sure, he was no Hulk Hogan or Paris Hilton... So there are people out there for you to admire instead, don't worry. ;)

adult-help 10-05-2012 09:24 PM

I'd like to see what he thinks about all this mess with maps and all the jokes about apple because of this maps. People have been mocking apple in the past too but not like this - now they became an internet joke.I wonder how he would react.

anexsia 10-05-2012 09:27 PM

If it had been up to Steve Jobs, everyone in the adult industry would be out of jobs and porn would be made illegal.

PornMD 10-05-2012 10:11 PM

Quick ass year. Then again it was probably the longest-lasting death since Princess Di...press wouldn't shut up about it, i.e. still hasn't been a year since "Steve Jobs dead" was news. He was a great marketer/visionary and otherwise quite an asshole, big whoop.

L-Pink 10-05-2012 10:25 PM

Does his tombstone read " iDied"

.

People tend to forget (or were never aware) that Tim Berners-Lee ran the world's first web server on an NeXT computer built and designed by Steve Job's company after he left Apple.

Jobs was also instrumental in funding and launching Pixar (he was the major shareholder in the beginning).

My mind has just been blown. I can't believe it has been a year already. It feels like he died only about 4-5 months ago. Wow time flies.

RIP Steve.

FlowerKid 10-06-2012 01:54 AM

Steve Jobs was one of the biggest assholes on the planet. But anyway, R.I.P.

"When the time for prayer comes, the worshipper lays the rug on the ground, so that the top points towards the direction of Steve Jobs TOMB, Alta Mesa Memorial Park. After prayer, the rug is immediately folded or rolled, and put away for the next year's use."

So he created and presided over a couple of companies, and filed some patents. Something no-one has ever done before or since. Clearly he is bigger than Jesus.

You make it so easy for others to see what an asshole you are - you take the guess work out of it.
