Bosnia-Herzegovina and Croatia ... anyone from there?

Any suggestions are appreciated. I was going to head to Sarajevo for a business meeting.
Is it worth staying more than a day or two?

Considering to take a week off this month, and visit the area.
Seems like a lot of people from Europe vacation along the coast during the Summer.

Thanks in advance! :thumbsup

I drove the whole coastline in Croatia from Porec to Dubrovnik and i liked it.

Dubrovnik is nice with a big castle, Split and Zadar also. And there are some more nice places i have to look up.
But i was there in summer. I find the older people al little "cloesd" and quiet.
I know somebody who fought in Dubrovnik and lost friends there.
He don't want to live in Dubrovnik anymore, he lives in South America now.
Maybe you can rent a car and drive to Dubrovnik and Zadar. The roads (toll) are good, not much traffic.

I went there cause people told me in Greece a lot of old architecture was destroyed by earthquakes. In Croatia a lot of old buildings are still there. And that seems right.

Bjorn thanks for the comments and the link. :thumbsup I will look after posting this here.

If all goes planned (and it never does), I will take a train into Sarajevo next week and drive from there to the coast. Dubrovnik and Split where on my "places" to visit.

Depends on what side you were

francisko cuz 10-11-2012 05:18 AM

Serb side

lucas131 10-11-2012 05:22 AM

have been there few years ago, half of the houses are not finished cause they dont want to finish them, another half was full of holes from weapons ... really not a country where i will be going anymore to get energy or inspiration ... not for me :2 cents:

Just got home from Serbia yesterday. Loved our time there. The prices are ridiculously low.

I was there in June 2010. In the country side you could see some bullet holes an incidently in some deserted houses in cities. But most war damage is repaired in the cities. The castle in Dubrovnik is completely rebuild.

Haha, sorry, I forgot about this thread completely.

1. If you want me to buy you a drink, you'll have to pop to Zagreb (capitol)
2. Dubrovnik and Split are cool, add Trogir city to your route (30 mins by car from Split), and when there you can't miss the old medieval town if you're into such stuff.
3. A lot of places are worth visiting up north, Zadar in perticular.
4. Dunno how far do you plan to drive around really.. but if you do, you can also drive all the way to istria (city of Pula), or as I said, drop by to the capitol and contact me. :pimp
5. All stuff mentioned here, at this time of year is more like historic sighseeing, summer party times on the coast is kinda over I'm afraid :upsidedow
6. War time is long over, no worries about bullets or bullet holes or whatever, thats just nonsense talk. Croatia is a fucking paradise on earth :winkwink:

Low? 1 liter of gasoline is $2. Hamburger on the street is almost $4. Taxes that sourounding countries don't have. Maybe prices are lower somewhere on the South I dont' know but you should see it 7 or 10 years ago.You had all what you need with much ,much less money.

xXXtesy10 10-13-2012 12:27 AM

heard that jizzsmut network gets its video content from serbia. must be lots of production going on there.

Sid70 10-13-2012 12:29 AM

I'd still stick to Adriatic coast of Italy for anything vacation related, those who lived in a 3rd world long time tend to go experience developed countries, Americans seem to like visiting shit holes lately :)

femdomdestiny 10-13-2012 01:44 AM

Well I guess that with your level of education and history knowledge you think that every country with history longer then 250 years is shithole.I guess it is too much for you to understand.

Chuke 10-13-2012 06:37 AM

A beer at the bar is just over $1. We had dinner at one of the nicest restaurants in the city for 8 people, with wine, beer, appetizers, mains and desert for just over $200.. Taking a cab was rarely over $3-4.. Insanely cheap.

femdomdestiny 10-13-2012 09:58 AM

what city? that is not Belgrade for sure, it must been some really small or poor place.

Vapid - BANNED FOR LIFE 10-13-2012 09:59 AM

Yes have have luck

donnie 10-13-2012 10:00 AM

Bosnia is an amazing country. There is so much to see and to do and the mixture of east and west unique in Europe. The best thing is you can have a great time regardless of when you go there during the year. And it?s relatively cheap as well?
