I think It will be a good one, But I'm betting on Ryan, Just going off of the fact that Biden has the last 4 years of failure to bring with him.

PornMD 10-11-2012 03:56 PM

I don't think Biden will have the same issue as Obama did with playing nice. That said, he makes a lot of gaffes and I don't think a lot of avg folks have really paid much attention to that, so for his sake hopefully he doesn't do that tonight. If he doesn't, he'll probably wipe the floor with Ryan and that's what I think will happen.

Relentless 10-11-2012 04:43 PM

Not The United States...

keysync 10-11-2012 04:50 PM

I say tie.
Joe is a likeable guy and Ryan is too.
I frankly hope they don't get too caught up in trying to one up the other guy and just do a straight forward debate.
That would be refreshing..:thumbsup:thumbsup

Your slipp'n BFT3K, you missed the most obvious answer..

"It makes no real difference, it's all political theater." <-- My vote goes here.

Paul Ryan looking like Screech from Saved by The Bell.

Or Joe Biden washing a sweet Trans Am in the White House driveway.

If you only listen...if you watch Biden in the split screen he acts like a dumb kid with all his giggles and facial expressions.

My brother works for an engineering firm that is doing a lot of work at the White House. One of his responsibilities is checking in on the project once or twice a week.

He cannot stand Obama but loves Biden.

He said that Biden comes out at least every other day to chat and share a few laughs with all of the guys working on the project. He doesn't do this because cameras are around (they aren't). He does this because he is still a regular guy that identifies more with people outside of the White House than those inside.

It's little things like that why I am a Biden fan. He's still so human despite being in politics for so long.

For the record, Obama hasn't been out to chat.

SmutHammer 10-11-2012 07:05 PM

Biden is running the show, even though Ryan has the facts on his side.....

Hope he's not using the same 27 wrong facts as Romney. :winkwink:

If I were Ryan I would turn to Biden and ask him,"I don't know what you think is so funny Joe, The people of this country are hurting and you and your buddy are destroying this country and all you can do is laugh when we are trying to come up with solutions to solve the problems. keep on laughing you TOOL!"

yeah, well...he's the president of the United States. There's a huge drop-off in duties and security needed when you're the vice-president.

exactly. How anyone with half a brain could NOT know that both Romney and Ryan only care about big business is mind blowing to me. Ryan appears to be full of shit.

Relentless 10-11-2012 07:33 PM

This debate looks and sounds like a teenage boy who got a B+ on a history test at school trying to outwit a grown man who remembers what actually happened because he was there when it happened.
Biden has been his usual self, not a genius, but someone who clearly believes what he says and says what he thinks.
I expected much better from Ryan. He is coming off as a whiney brat.
If Romney loses, you won't see Ryan nominated for any part of the whitehouse ever again.

SmutHammer 10-11-2012 07:34 PM

Biden ran the show, but Ryan killed the closing statement.

Bronco it is obvious you have no idea about business. I'm guessing you never owned a legal business in America.

I really hope our President has better things to do then chat up all of the contractors running around the White House.

I am a small business owner -- but I'm not in the class of business that Romney cares about. I'm in that 97% that Biden was talking about.

Dude, I can smell bullshit like a fart in a car, and I know sleaze when I see it. Romney is sleaze. There's video evidence of him being sleaze in multiple instances, including the big one that entire world was treated to recently. That's what I'm going on. I'll vote for the guy who is less of a scumbag.

I feel sorry for anyone who can't see what a sociopath that Romney really is. All of the evidence is in our faces.

buzzard 10-11-2012 07:49 PM

what type of business if I may ask? Because I have had plenty and the government was nothing but a burden on my businesses.

I have my own medical/science animation business -- with an adult project in the works, which may get done someday if I ever stop needing to pay my bills.

I'm very in demand and one of the only "one man shops" in this area of the US. My business is a real tight niche, but I'm not getting mega-rich from it. So maybe I'm not in a bracket that's getting crushed by taxes--- and I never said I liked that businesses get taxed out the ass.

Robbie 10-11-2012 07:59 PM

I think Democrats are cumming in their pants tonight. Biden needed to show up, act aggressively, and not nod off (like Obama did).

He did exactly what he needed to do.

Ryan did exactly what he needed to do as well. Showed up, stood his ground, and most importantly...continually pushed his running mate (something that Biden didn't do...never heard him mention The President by name even once).

And as predicted:
MSNBC's cast of characters (Rachel Maddow, Chris Matthews, Ed Shultz, Al Sharpton) were jumping for joy and proclaiming it an overall victory for Biden.
Fox News "analyzed" it as a clear victory for Ryan.
CNN called it a draw.

Now vote for Gary Johnson. We all just watched a career politician (which in my book means a scumbag) vs. a wannabe career politician (which also means scumbag).
Is this really what we want?

That's the truth. And it's not even the Feds who are the biggest problem.

The BIGGEST problem is if you make the mistake of opening a business in city limits. Then the City Govt. will be the number one obstacle to your success.

It shouldn't be that way.

All FOX news has been doing for the last 15 minutes is crying about how disrespectful Biden was.

http://iowntheworld.com/blog/wp-cont.../08/DEBATE.jpg

I thought that the moderator, Martha Raddatz, did a great job, with pointed questions, and in controlling the flow of the debate.

Biden could have done a little less mugging while Ryan was speaking, and interrupted less often, but I thought overall he showed a much better command of the issues, and he did not let Ryan squirm out of or sidestep issues the way Obama gave Romney a free ride in the first debate.

I have to admit that I have not seen much of Paul Ryan up until now, other than sound bytes on news talk shows, but I did not think he showed great knowledge or depth on the issues, and he seemed somewhat like a college cheerleader more than a person I would entrust as the Commander in Chief should the need arise.

Ryan is definitely a better VP candidate than Sarah Palin, but I see him as just another Dan Quayle, a token for the conservative base of the Republican party, there more to be seen rather than heard.

In any case, I don't think this debate changed the way people will vote in the upcoming election, but I feel both Veep candidates up'ed the bar for the remaining two Presidential debates. Biden helped pull things back to even, and it will be up to Obama to do better, or let Romney steal the show again (since debates are often more about showmanship than leadership).

CNN talked about that too. Reading the news sites...it's pretty much unanimous that Biden was laughing and interrupting too much. Probably the way he was coached to show more life than Obama.

It sometimes worked..but he shouldn't have been doing the laughing gimmick when they were discussing the debacle of the Libyan embassy at the beginning of the debate.

Robbie 10-11-2012 08:16 PM

CNN just announced their poll of registered voters after the debate:
Ryan 48% Biden 44%

Basically a tie.

My strategy at this point would be this:

The whole theory of the "undecided voter" is total bullshit. The winner is going to be the side that pumps up their side the most and gets the most people to take the time to vote. Based on that, throw facts out the window and just go on the attack during the next two debates. Get your side angry and pumped up and you will get the bigger turn out.

There is no way anyone is truly undecided. Nobody is changing their votes based on any of these debates. They only thing they are doing is getting one side more pumped up than the other.

BFT3K 10-11-2012 08:28 PM

At the end of the first debate I immediately posted that Obama lost, because he lost.

Tonight I am stating unequivocally that Ryan lost, because he lost.

Not really. Biden needed a strong win to "right the ship". I didn't watch all of the debate but from the remarks it seems like I saw enough except for Ryan's closing statement. Biden did what he needed to do.

Biden is an idiot but he "won" tonight

I don't understand how Biden got to where he is, I thought tonight could be the end of him but amazingly he keeps going. He didn't even really know his facts yet he kept Ryan on the defensive. Yeah he kept laughing at Ryan but who wouldn't.

Biden was like a kid who didn't do his homework but showed up to class and bull shitted his was to an A. I though Ryan would be able to catch him up but he didn't even come close.

Actually I watched a news program and they interviewed these undecided voters it was fucking annoying. Saying shit like no one has really spoken to me. In a whiny type voice.

Biden hit this one out of the park. Ryan was the snot-nosed pretentious know-it-all with no experience and shouldn't have been sitting at the adults table.

I agree. I can't believe anyone with a pulse who is actually intending to vote is still undecided. It is pretty simple. If you think Obama has done a good job vote for him. If not, vote for Romney or, do as I am doing and vote for Johnson because you don't care for either of them.

The bottom line is that whoever is able to activate their base and get them to the polls the best will likely win. This is where Obama has the advantage. Because of the huge advantage he has with the minority vote if he can get them and the hardcore liberals to the polls he wins. If they stay home on election day it will be close and he could lose.
