What is the biggest problem you have with .XXX
I see that many people still hate .XXX
Why? Is it the price, Or something else? |
I am not a search engine guy by nature but I do think it would be used to help segregate search engine results. I believe that’s the only reason it’s being pushed. I believe that it’s about control somewhere down the line. I sound like I am in the Matrix. LOL. Is that control or segregation a bad thing? I don’t know. Maybe having a domain.xxx will make it easier to find what you are looking for as a consumer? But I don’t thing that’s what pushing this domain.xxx is for. It takes a long time to find what the fuck I am looking for using a search engine anyway. I do very little seo.

no problem year

The problems I can see for some, Are good for others.
Expensive domains... I don't think it's much per year for any real website to handle. Maybe it could help .XXX sites to have better built websites and less throw togethers. Search engine results and traffic, I'm sure it hurts long time established sites, on the other side It gives others a chance to compete. re-watermarking old content and building new designs. Could be a lot of tedious work for big companies, but again gives the smaller companies more of a fighting chance, and brings more design work etc. for others. Fear of a porn Ghetto, again hurts bigger companies more, and those who own great .com domains, Also makes it easier for country's to block the tld. On the bright side, It would be easier to keep porn away from children, and just possibly it could be easier to control piracy in our industry. |
The blatant lies told by ICM.
All that industry support they claimed. Except it didn't and doesn't exist. The guy (Johnny V. I think) who showed up at the ICAAN meeting claiming to be "the" Director of an adult related group. He claimed it was a typo and should have been "a" director. Turned out he was only an honorary director. I guess part of that Honorary title allowed him to speak representing the group. Wonder who paid for that trip?. The claimed benefits of the TLD when in reality NOBODY benefited one bit except ICM itself. I'm sure all the non-adult companies and organizations who paid out the ass for defensive registrations are just loving the benefits. The cost, with zero benefit, to adult industry companies to defensively register their trademarks and domains just so someone else wouldn't. Still not sure? |

There were some shady things, I'll give you that, But they have been approved, they're not going anywhere, and the consumer has no idea about how the adult industry feels about it. not every product you have or use, is owned by people you like. I'm not here to defend .XXX I just am curious what it is that people have such a big problem with. Each persons personal reason. |

Free isn't their policy, they accidentally held my trademarked domain for their premium auction. When I brought it to their attention, they just let me have it. |

I used to have a problem with it. Not anymore.
Bulls make money, bears make money, pigs get slaughtered. |

They can think.
They can try. At the end, they will never be better than the old .com For me, domain is .com |
Many here love to hate. So long as they don't have to do anything or give money to fight it. They hate all the time.

Besides the obvious potential for censorship and the highly inflated price; The company and people behind dotxxx have shown time and time again that they cannot be trusted. They lied to ICANN, they sent thousands of fake emails to ICANN. They promised the same domains to different people at certain shows in an attempt to get support. They hired that leech Joan Irvine. They have claimed and pretended to represent the industry. There is the issue of the percentage they offered certain groups in exchange for support. And a whole lot of shady things, including bribes and threats, that went on before Stuart Lawley became their figurehead.

dicks who have nothing to do with adult tried to make a bank on their scammy expensive shit?
|
Don't forget google keeps devaluing exact match domains and they focused on lower quality extensions last time (ie not dot com)

.xxx is as much worh as .mobi

A domain is worth what you make it. I didn't like all the shady shit surrounding the entire process, but now that it is done, it's just a fact of business, like tubes, dealing with pirates, and 3rd party processors raping you.
There is still the fear of an online ghetto in the back of my head. And truth is none of us know their long term goals. However, due to the insane amount of piracy that is already being found on .XXX domains, and the ease in which anyone can access it, I think it's fair to say it had NOTHING to do with protecting children or as an aid to reduce piracy. Just more lies. |
if I had to narrow it down to the 'biggest problem' I have with .XXX it would have to be IFFOR

1) The price is absurd.
2) I ask some questions about « what are the benefits of a .xxx domain » and 2 weeks later I got a 1 page e-pamphlet basically saying « the Internet is evolving buy now ! » Wow that pamphlet was certainly helpful... NOT !! Personally my biggest worry is my competition. As it stands now it's cut throat and I'm able to stay in business because I'm able to avoid saturated market. If I put a .XXX domain on my content it might be like trying to do busines beside walmart and I won't be able to compete. |
|
xxx is over priced!
|
|
|
Their domains are overpriced. They have lied to us in the past and there's no reason to assume they won't do it again in the future.
|
So you won't be able to find piracy or get results searching those words on google?
New site, So I'm sure it will take a little time to get things together. With support from the industry I thing they would work harder to make people happy. |
there is no need for .xxx. its just another money grab.

No need for the extension as .COM works fine Easy to get filtered if running on .XXX Inflated Price False claims that the majority of the adult industry supports this I could run .XXX with 2 ideas in my head that would receive support from the adult community, unfortunately their vision is clouded by $$$$$$$$$$$ |
I prefer .com and I'll stick with that. I can start 10 new .com sites for the price of 1 .xxx.
|
not bothered whether its .xxx or .zzz doesent bother me at all
|
I use .coms
