Spotify... any tips or tricks?

I just started using Spotify last week.
Any tips or tricks on using it to it's maximum?

install it on your mobile, and sync playlist so you have them available offline..
also install some apps inside spotify to find good playlists and charts to discover music..

Yup, use Pandora instead. Desiree gave out free hugs in the office today - you missed them!!

Pandora is not available in Kanuckistan. :(

And I don't see the Spotify app in the Canadian app store either. Anyone have a green card lying around?

There are some nice Google Music apps for iOS, but nothing official. You can always upload your library there and stream it. If you don't find something else that works.

Spotify is a godsend. If you have premium, you are in for a great experience. Pandora isn't even int same ballgame! It's good for Discovering random music, but Spotify is music ON DEMAND!

Tip: Subscribe to my "Prince" playlist (177 subscribers): http://open.spotify.com/user/tofu916...ClPIPI3gSonudN

or Sarah Jayne's "Live Aid Lineup" playlist (220 subscribers):

Pandora is like the America Online of music services. Your grandmom, or aunt Judy might say, "hey I just discovered this great site called Pandora".

Going to be trying this out, pandora is beat after a while, it seems like all my stations play the same songs now.

I love Spotify so much that I sent them a fan email saying if they ever open a proper affiliate program they should contact me. They should write me a check for how many premium memberships I have helped them sell already.

For me, the way to make the most of it is to find somebody who you love to share music with and start a collaborative playlist on a topic. That is where it has come alive for me.

In addition, make sure of their new releases feature. Some great musical discoveries can come that way.

Well, thanks for the suggestions but it appears that unless you're living in the USA, you can't take full advantage of Spotify.

That is not necessarily true. I think the UK has it better than US.

Yeah I just got someone to sign up yesterday. Spotify replaces the need for a music collection. WELL worth the money.

It also removes pretty much any reason for illegal downloading. I was never a big downloader anyway but I haven't downloaded anything at all in the several years have had Spotify. I do, however, buy music but usually after I have listened to a new album on Spotify first.

There is some frustration with some gaps in the catalog which are clearly rights things. The Beatles, of course, but a lot of classic rock is hard to find. Then there is the way there are different rights in different countries. So, there are times I want to listen to something but I can't because there aren't US rights but overall that isn't that common.

All for $10 a month. Which most music lovers would easily spend on buying one album a month.

damn! thats hella tracks. most aren't available, though...you have some exclusives!

javbucks 10-22-2012 05:17 PM

If you really enjoy music don't bother with any crappy streaming music service that offers a max quality of 192Kbps. But if you are going to use a service like Spotify just pay the fee because the ads will annoy you to no end.
