Programmer / Coder Seeking Full-Time or Contract Work

I'm available for either full-time work or on a per-project basis. My rates are flexible based on how interesting the project and/or job is. I've been around since 1996, and stand behind my work.

I code primarily in PHP, using MVC (model-view-controller) principles. In the past, I've written code for the following companies: SexKey/Screw.com/Mansites, Playboy/Reality Cash, Pride Studios/PrideBucks, GigaCash/Xbiz, Sex.com, PimpRoll, and a host of others. I am also the author of Autoblogger Pro (the "good" Stand Alone version), Feed Pushers, and other products.

I'm comfortable in HTML, Javascript, CSS, and other languages as well.

In a longer-term position, I'm looking for a company that will use my talents to set the industry on fire with new ideas and strategies. I've written several documents, that while dated (at least one is from 2003), will give you a general idea of how I think and code:

http://edgeprod.com/traffic-strategy.pdf
http://edgeprod.com/aeb.pdf
http://edgeprod.com/profitability.pdf

I'm experienced in SEO, traffic generation, task automation, webmaster tools, custom CMS, merchant solutions (carts, clips4sale, NATS), and much more.

If you have a project in mind, I'm also available as a partner, but be aware that I am EXTREMELY selective for projects that do not offer defined compensation.

I have a fantastic coder, but he is based in Israel... if he gets called to war you are high on my list of coders to take care of things while he is away. Best of luck in your search.

I could, but I won't at this time. Just a personal preference.

I get people asking me to create spammy stuff for them too.. I personally wont create anything to sell or for a customer that is considered a spam tool or shady... Because of that and the fact that so many people ask me, I have come to the conclusion if they want a spam tool, they're gonna pay for it. $500/hr with 10 hours pre-paid upfront and no refund. :thumbsup

It was a fun ride, no lie ... but then I figured out on another board that VB is just a persona, not the guy behind the keyboard.

CI, MySQL, Ajax, and Git, yes. I could pick up Bonfire and Bootstrap easily, I'm sure, especially with the way they plug into CI. My framework of choice is CakePHP, but I'm adaptable.

No kidding, right? All of those hours I slaved away for nothing .. supporting users for free out of my own pocket. On top of everything, in the end, he stole everyone ELSE'S money, too. What a stand-up guy, sheesh.

Bootstrap is real easy, I use it for tons of stuff, and bonfire is too as it's just a CMS built on top of CodeIgniter.

I hear so many bad things about Cake, I personally haven't used it but I have a buddy who is the dev on a pretty big mainstream site and it's built in cake and he is always bitching about it.

Framework wise, I'm CodeIgniter all the way for client work, and my own framework for personal work (Don't trust it for anybody elses stuff right now), and if I ever switched from the two, I'd go with Symfony. FabPot is an awesome dude. :thumbsup

I figured it was like that with Boot and Bon; not worried.

The reason I prefer Cake to some of the other frameworks has less to do about me and more to do with working with others. Cake enforces some fairly strict MVC principles, and doesn't really "allow" cheating. This makes it harder for people to put garbage into the code, although it obviously doesn't stop bad coders from being themselves.

Symfony2 definitely looks promising, although I haven't had a project for it yet.

I feel ya there... All the top frameworks are good in their own way... Except ZendFramework, fuck that bloated piece of donkey shit!

I see this so often on job ads, and wonder what it means exactly

there is presumably a job that needs to be done, does the job also change "based on qualifications"?

Yes the job change based on qualifications. If I believe your motivated but not experienced enough I may hire the person at a lower salary and provide more training.
I also perform various testing to check what is people strong skills and where they need improvements, obviously someone who have strong skills in an area we need I would obviously also be willing to pay more.

Since we are making our own money and not counting on investors or other handouts I need to look at the value I get from each person.

Since we are in the process of doing a complete back-end rewrite we are looking to fill long term positions with plenty of growth opportunities..

It probably got lost in the thread, so I'll reiterate: I appreciate all of the (overwhelming!) interest, but I have fielded a number of offers, and don't feel that I need more at this time. :thumbsup

UPDATE: I've selected a full-time (exclusive) position, thank you again for all the interest! I won't be accepting any new work at this time.
