Did you leave adult? Do you regret it?
I left adult about 4 years ago and have regretted it only a couple of times.
Now I've got an investor that wants to develop one of my adult domains and it looks like I'm getting back in. Anybody else go mainstream? Regret leaving? Anybody stay and regret that? |
Hell no still here and going strong
|
ZZZZZZZ's back... Hell yeah.
Good luck man ;) |
why would i? :)
everything else is just boring |
Haven't left yet...doubt I ever will...
so, nope. |
if im still making money im still going to be here
|
kinda
no |
I hear the shows aren't as good as they used to be. Of course, they're not as good as 2000, 2001...but are they as shit as I'm being told now?

Maybe you should put together a Panama show :thumbsup |
welcome back!

A Panama show...?
Hhrrmm...what an idea.
If I did, who would be into it? |
Welcome back ZZZZZZZZ
|
Thanks all, it has been really great to see some of my old friends here. I don't recognize all the nicks, but I've been checking out some old show pics and I'm digging the idea of hitting a few more shows with a new site. ;-)

I've never left, and never will, I'm even passing on clients to my biz peeps! |
left and came back, like the diversified approach, if adult has a dip mainstream holds me up, if mainstream has a dip adult holds me up, if both doing well jackpot :2 cents:

Left adult in 2010, actually never really did anything online much then... Just tinkering with things... Came back and now I'm working on getting the ball rolling again.
Mainly my primary client pulled me back in. |
I've been in mainstream for a long time now, and I got into adult way too late. Never really made a lot with adult, and I still have one site left that I run but I concentrate 99% on mainstream.
|
Still here and doing a little bit of both! :pimp
|
Grass is so much greener in mainstream... Less competition, waaaaay more niches to get into, way easier to get high quality backlinks, traffic is actually worth a damn, and most importantly you have to worry way less about people actually paying you...
Adult is dead unless you are part of that 1% who is consolidating all the traffic. It's a mature industry now with no room for mom and pops. Move with the times and stop flogging a dead horse. Typical adult webmaster now is pleased to get a few signups a week and is basically working for beer money. |

Welcome back Z.
A lot has changed. A lot. Then again, the more things change the more they stay they same. Always new nicks who pretend they own the world and think they know everything while running their company from Mommy's basement. Whatever. |

How many adult webmasters can push 10+ signups a day now? How many even make a reliable $100+ a day, or any kind of sustainable living wage? Not many. A fraction of a few years ago. No wonder the adult biz is in a shambles. |
I had to leave for health reason's for a few and it sucked hard, We don't know how lucky we got it working fulltime in adult..

No the industry is not completely dead and obviously there are people still making money. But if you can't see that the industry is maturing beyond the level where individual affiliates have a place then you need to take off the blinkers... Maybe if you're balling so hard, you can move up from that 2007 Macbook one day soon. :thumbsup |

But hey, thanks for your concern on what I use to watch Netflix while I work. :thumbsup |
Every year to date including this one has been my best year. Can't complain.
|
Leave it? LOL, you mean it throw you out. No one leaves cash, it just stops coming. Then you leave. However Im so near to leave it myself. :winkwink:

I'm not completely out of adult yet but I'm damn sure on my way out. Seems like every week mainstream is getting better and better.
I'll keep some autopilot blogs and dating scripts running just to build email leads, but my focus is elsewhere. |

We made 6-figures in '03 (our best year) - but since then it's been a steady decline to low 5-figures. We're still in the game...but we've been developing a few mainstream projects lately that hopefully will bear fruit in the near future. |
I'm in IT for an adult company and I make 6 figures. Does that count as being in adult?
|
I did. I don't.

However unless you work for Manwin then you may have very little job security. Depending on your skill set you may or may not have trouble finding a similar position in the future. Underneath the surface almost every big company in adult has been quietly stripping back on everything they can and trying to get more out of paying people less. For example I know for a fact that over the last few months Pimproll has been quietly culling every expense and person they can and working their employees even harder than they did before - and they are one of the biggest programs out. |
nigars put too much flour in they coke then wonder why they broke - nas

Left adult, twice... just came back in a year ago because adsense gave the boot to a decent site and I wanted to monetize it somehow. Built networks around it, then bam im back in. Mainstream is still responsible for the vast majority of my online income though

That's only if you don't know what you're doing. It's really easy to cover up, make fake logins for everything, use proxies if you have to, etc.. |
Based on the constant moping going on around here more people are forced out of adult than those voluntarily choosing to leave it.

But HERE, in the thread you opened, you will only see people saying they stayed and are doing money and such things. You wont' see people here telling you the TRUTH. We all know what happened to the adult business in the last years. And 90% of the AFFILIATES I knew from year 2005 are no longer in adult. Go Figure. Your nick is registered since 2002, so, you know exactly whats going on. No need to ask, and if you ask here, dont expect a real response. Just saying... |
I haven't made a dime off adult since probably '06 or '07, and even then most of that was residuals from prior years.
Fact is, there is plenty of opportunity in this industry for those who are creative and can persist with very little, if any immediate payoff. I plan to get back in next year with a couple of new projects on a minuscule level. In 2013, less is more. |

Mainstream presents a lot more opportunity, from advertising avenues to potential customer volume.
"A Million Dollars Isn't Cool. You Know What's Cool? A Billion Dollars." Extremely hard to become a billion-dollar adult company. Mainstream, these days, not so much (at least as far as evaluations go). So I guess it all depends where you are aiming. |
I didn't leave as such just drifted into new ventures. For me after 10 years doing Adult I just could no longer sit in front of a screen all day and my mental health suffered.
In the early 2000's I just played allot of golf to escape but then as times grew tougher you had to work more. I happy with how things are and I still make money from adult but I haven't updated a site in years except for auto updates. |
imho both industry earns well you just have to learn or search for more strategies. :thumbsup
