Ferrari appeal may cost Sebastian Vettel F1 title

Ferrari are considering lodging a protest against Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel?s Formula One title, following the release of footage showing Vettel illegally overtaking Jean-Eric Vergne in the season-deciding race in Brazil.

There was a crash, so the yellow flag was out. You cant overtake when there's a yellow flag.

JamesM 11-29-2012 01:49 AM

illegally overtaking ?
are there rules for overtaking?

edit: just read the above reply.
thanks

One light was yellow, next was green... I guess it will depend on the exact time it went from yellow to green and if the pass was before that.

But things like this are why the cars all have transponders on onboard telemetry.

Looks like he has been cleared by the FIA. They said between the automatic yellow light and the automatic green light, there was a marshall waving a green flag that indicated it was safe to overtake.

I don't think Alonso would want to win it in this way in all honesty, he seems to be a proud person and would rather beat Vettel on the track fair and square.

FIA confirms Sebastian Vettel's move in Brazil was not illegal, ending Ferrari's hopes of title reversal and it's official

it was legal, hear FIA explanation and it's all clear

thats what i kind of dislike about Ferrari - one week earlier they changed Massas transmission for no reason to get Alonso a better position and one week later they pull this BS.

if they really had a doubt, they should have said that within the official period after the race, not a week later

To be honest they had to contest it while the question was still there. They would be foolish not to.

It has been cleared up though and they have accepted. So it's no problem, and Vettel and Red Bull can enjoy their victory!

Anyone watch the documentary "Senna"?

The politics in F1 is just disgusting at times....

F1 had the video pulled? Idiots.

Too bad for Vettel.

On the BBC site they show a close up off a marshal in a hut on the left hand side of the track waving a flag - or what looks to be a green flag , just before Vettel started to overtake.

Very good documentary,
I was watching that race where he passed away live, and it was one of the more sickening days, alongside of when Dale Earnhardt died, in all of my years of watching racing, as well as shooting for many CART / NASCAR teams.

Senna was amazing...
F1 politics never has been amazing...
:P
