Mike South on Manwin Today
http://mikesouth.com
It seems there are an unusual number of disgruntled employees that Mike quotes. |
Shocker, porn turned tech company with explosive growth, hires and fires a lot of people to find those that fit well. 48 reviews and a lot of them are good reviews. Mike South = FAIL
|
Sounds no different to any of the other big corporate porn companies who work their employees to death for minimal wages. Times are tough in porn land and people are hungry for jobs and desperate for money - so the companies can pick and choose and let workers fight each other down to the bone by undercutting their prices and overdelivering on service.
If you work for a porn company you're lucky you even have a job - because as soon as someone semi-capable comes along who will do it for cheaper, you're out the door. That's the great thing about being a webmaster, with the thing the companies want: traffic. You can get yourself much better money than in any position working for a company (unless you owned said company), you're your own boss and you don't have to take anyone else's shit. Instead of treating you like shit, the reps get all chummy on ICQ and call you bro while they try to wheedle a few more ad spots or a few more hits a day out of you. |
I'm waiting for manwin's factory in Canada to catch fire and a whole floor of content uploaders earning substance wages perish because the exits are chained shut.

My question is how many "companies" here will implode/disappear when the raids begin? |

Seems to me to be plenty of good reviews also but he seems to have missed those.
Mike South is hardly objective anyway. |

Anyone actually reading the reviews will notice that
1) The negative reviews all come in bulk, over a short few days in march and in november. 2) They come right after positive reviews are posted 3) Most of the negative reviews are reposted multiple times 4) Most of the negative reviews are positive reviews taken and turned around by adding negative words. All in all, obviously a few or possibly even one single disgruntled employee trying to hurt the company. Typical Mike reporting ;) BTW, JFK, it's the Montreal office. The Bentley is one of the company cars I drive, but since I am there maybe 12 weeks a year, it is driven as perks by management on and off. The cars need to be moved either way, or its bad for them... Regarding the private jet comment, uhm, I do not get what the point is there. Yes, sometimes management when flying in a group with myself will take a private jet, since its easier and more convinient and time saving. The nanny mercedes benz comment is hilarious too, whats that supposed to mean? Employees are not allowed to own a mercedes and let their private nannies drive the car? It makes no sense... Anyway, fun fun as always :) First time I went to that site btw, quite funny. |
Nathan, when you going to open a New York office? I need a new place to hang out. I'll bring weed and bitches, and I'll let you have my avatar for free access to the snack machines.
|
CH, lol.. we actually decided yesterday to not open an office in NYC. We were thinking about it...

those reviews seem pretty legit - you're always going to have lower rung employees who bitch about everything but there are consistent criticisms in the negative reviews about favoritism/nepotism/cliques and about poor managers and an overall amateur quality to the corporate culture. makes sense, Mansef/Manwin began as a bunch of TGP kids/buddies, and the employees who go back to that era due to their young age have never worked at a large company in a management/executive capacity. I'm sure this isn't lost on people coming into the company with no background in the online porn industry. I'm also sure the nepotism/favoritism complaint has validity.
Manwin's reviews are positively glowing compared to those for the company I most despise in this world, Rogers! http://www.ratemyemployer.ca/employe...l=en&empID=100 |

Lord I have seen this same scam back in the 1980s. My guess is they are just trying now to put as much money into legitimate areas as possible before the legal system catches up with them. The mafia pioneered this tactic and considering manwin's most important office is located in mafia ruled Montréal. I would not be surprised if the money came from the entire mafia construction scandel currently going on in Montréal. (It is huge news) So I will say it, it was washing money back then and it is probably the same thing today. I am surprised that people still talk about this thing called Manwin. He is this Industry's kim dotcom. It is just another flash in the pan like so many others that I have seen. His kind always feed on the attention both good and bad. So justworry about your own business and ignore him because he will eventually disappear. |

lol, back on topic, I've had to let go a lot of people over the last 12 years, and I don't really find the reviews that out of the ordinary. People get pretty upset when you take away their income, it doesn't really matter if they were incompetent, that certainly won't be their view of themselves. Many people you let go will put terrible complaints out there, regardless of what their actual work experience was like. Secondly, upset people post a lot more reviews than people who are happy about their situation. What's manwin have, like 2.4 million employees or something? We have 50 and we are constantly running ads looking for talented people. anyways, I'm not trying to back Nathan up, but this really doesn't seem out of the ordinary to me. I remember less than a year ago, when current employees of an adult company were on here constantly complaining abut their current management, that I would find a lot more concerning. When people are currently employed and getting paid by a company, and publicly bashing managers and directors, you have a real problem. I'd be a lot more interested to hear what current random employees think, but I'm pretty sure most of the low level guys over there have no clue what GFY is. |
Most of GFY people is one-man ventures working from bedrooms, so got no any experience in manage even 1 employee. Wonder how easy to complain on big corporation having not run one themselves "better". Wished to see disgruntled employee as CEO of company he criticizes. For a mainstream company I ran 10+ years ago I had 25+ employees (35 with contractors), to produce million dollar worth software contracts, and it was a complete mess. Compared, to run 2 cam sites (as I do now) it is super simple (and it is not). It is quite difficult to run a big company if compared to bedroom operations, you lose all of the control, knowledge and personal stuff you have in "jedi kids on ICQ in nights" miracle efficiency. People no more know what to do, managers no more know what guys do, many start to sleep in offices or browse facebook, think the company is doing wrong as "I would do it different, the CEO/Managers is idiots" and so on. Bigger the private company it is, more it looks like public organisation or Soviet Union, and you know how it ends, alternative is be nazi regime and you also know how it ends too. So I am quite silent when it comes to criticize the managemend of many-bathrooms and offices operations... as I know I could eventually do it worst then them. Also unsure you tried be representative of some union, I was this too, and it is also a mess. In general to deal with big number of humans it is a displeasure.

I know quite a few Manwin employees from being in industry so long and that's not the story I hear from them, most are very happy there. These are also people that I have longstanding relationships so they would have no reason to lie to me but sure with a company that size always going to be a few that don't fit and sure to blame the company.

Manwin is the best company I've ever worked for. And if driving all the top dogs around in the Bentley is the only way I can stay in the porn business, then so be it. Like my old man used to say, get in where you fit in. Though, I really do wish they didn't make me wear a Kato uniform. The mask is a wee bit over the top.
Thanks for the opportunity Fabian. I appreciate it. See you tomorrow at 8am. |
1000+ employees and a few aren't happy, that's expected. Look at people on the bus, train, subway, sitting in traffic on the the way to work, how many of them look happy to you?

I own a 1964 Aston M artin DB5 that I only drive to car shows and I also own a Lexus GS. Does it make me a millionaire or a big shot?Non it makes me someone that paid off his mortgage 20 years ago and knows how to spend less than I earn. Trust me that it takes more than an expensive car to make somone a big shot or even rich. Because of several decades of experience in this industry I know a lot of people and some are really big big shots but I am myself not a big shot. In short one of the first signs that someone is on weak ground is when they need expensive toys to prove to others their importance. One of the most silently powerful men in Montréal drives a late 1990s Oldsmobile and shops at Value Village. Anyone that has insulted him is most likely at the bottom of the fleuve Saint-Laurent or is a montréal mayor forced to take retirement. Bref, the Bently does not impress me. |

Curious, with your outstanding success, what do you drive ? Personally, I own a 1966 Chevy Impala SS 1973 Mustang Fastback (351 W) 1972 Corvette 4spd Convertible/454 / 290 horse (last yr for the front chrome bumper) A RR Bentley is way out of my price range! |

I have always wanted a Mach 1 and I saw one last week but the seller wanted too much for the amount of work need to make it new again. |

You can exchange Manwin for DTI Cash and get many of the same quotes. Cant make every single person happy in this world. |
Notinmybackyard,
I did not brag about the Bentley. I do not brag in general. I answered a question/comment from JFK. Btw, in case you ever want to sell the db5, let me know, I will buy it. |
