Anyone else a little tired of motherfucking Christmas?
 

In the past few years I've really been starting to dislike Christmas. Same thing every year...my wife spends $1500 buying gifts for people we barely care about or even like. I'd rather put that money in my 401k, or buy a 65 inch TV -- but she has to make sure her Aunt Judy gets a new set of expensive frying pans from Bed Bath and Beyond.

Then there's a the Christmas holiday parties, where I have to get into endless conversations that I can't find a way to disengage from after the topics have dried up.

I need to jump off this Merry-go-round for just one year.

Use this spot to bitch and moan.

Excited to spend time with my family, because they don't suck.

I don't know, maybe stop being a bitter asshole and you may enjoy it too? Just sayin.

haha yeah maybe. There's people I enjoy and I do have a few laughs, but too many who are just giant bores who talk about their finance jobs, acting like they're actually doing something worthwhile -- when really they're just straight up fucking crooks. There's that.

But mostly its the monotony of it.

Nah, I love it ! Fav time of the year.

If you are getting jaded - Take a year off - Instead of spending on pressies and stuff, get a vacation to somewhere its not celebrated :)

Christmas sucks so fucking badly, so annoying and gets in the way of trying to get anything routine done, can't wait til it and new years is over and things get back to normal everywhere :2 cents:

$1500? I don't think I have ever spent that much money on XMAS and that would include the year I found out I had massive "gold points" in various programs and went hog wild ordering shit for people.

other than stimulating the economy and seeing family you might not otherwise see, christmas is a lot of bullshit, a waste of time and a bunch of lies to kids.

It's the most wonderful time of year. Stop being a grinch.

Yes, but I'd give anything to be back in the situation where I *had* to spend time with the in-laws, aunts, etc. Seeing your kids for a few hours xmas eve/xmas morning then going back to an empty house is far shittier than having to donate some time once a year to people you may find boring, imo. Those people may really enjoy your company, even if not vice versa, so cheer up and know the crappy part doesn't last long and is ALWAYS over at some point :)

I like Christmas, because I love all of the lights. :)

Christmas lights remind me of my friends...they all hang together, only about half of them work, and the ones that do, aren't that bright. :winkwink:

The thing I hate most about Xmas is the shopping crowds. I can't take large crowds anymore - just a few minutes and I start getting ansy and feelin' the need to get the hell outta there.

Keep it all about the kids and you will have a lot more fun with it.

Not even doing Christmas here, other than dinner with a couple of family members. My son is with his mom this christmas so I sent his gift to her place out of state, did see the point in really doing anything else.

Was nice to not have to deal with any shopping crowds and all that other bullshit.

Got 2 racks of babyback ribs on the smoker :)

That is the main thing I cant stand about this fucking holiday. I saw people in Target acting like selfish idiots, pushing, shoving and RIPPING things off the shelf. The parking lots are a great place for a traffic jam and I drive a big truck, so even the outskirts of the car parks are crowded.

Yet, there I was, contributing and acting the same way, giving in to the holiday madness, so I can get my kids some meaningless shit that they'll stop playing with in 2 weeks.

Bah. Fucking. Humbug. :mad:

My only complaint is the lack of restaurant options

kids are even more annoying and I avoid being anywhere that kids are around if at all possible :2 cents:

hate Christmas, hate Manwin, hate tubes everybody hates something... maybe if people spent the energy on working harder or simply enjoying shit instead of hate and badmouthing, then porn industry will blossom again

Your problem is not Christmas, your problem is that you do not care about family (aunts etc)

Upwards of 20 people descending on our place by tomorrow - family get-together, dinner...banal conversations, blah, blah.

Thankfully I have my 3rd-floor office to retreat to when the shit gets too thick.

I am sick of people who aren't cheerful. IT IS CHRISTMAS TIME, BITCH. BE JOLLY OR SIT YOUR ASS DOWN.

I like white frosty snow, and dislike people who make it yellow :)

We (my family) stopped buying gifts about three years ago. Christmas has been a lot better since then.

Family dinner, a few drinks, board games... Everyone has a blast.

I don't celebrate Christmas anymore there is really no more spirit sales are up today tho that's some i guess

Christmas changes once you have your own kids....

As long as I spend it with my family, it's OK. Other than that, I don't make a big deal out of it.

By the way what you hate more is commercialization of Christmas. It should not be about presents, it should be about being together with family (not only close one, but also with those that you see once a year or so).
