Swimmers?

Just had my fastest swim time ever. Feeling very good. Anyone else here into swimming?

Markul 02-06-2013 03:36 AM

Wish I had time to swim more.. so I guess I am a little :)

Chosen 02-06-2013 05:07 AM

Where do you swim? How far? Do you keep track of your time?

candyflip 02-06-2013 05:34 AM

Fastest at what distance?

I was a sprinter growing up, and my fastest time for 50 yds was 20.24 seconds. No way in hell I could do that fast ever again.

I love swimming, but hate the cold water. Since I'm not forced to swim anymore, I pretty much don't.

I swim in the sea, as far as I want but usually not farther than few hundred meters.
I do not keep track of my time as I do it for pleasure :)

fitzmulti 02-06-2013 05:58 AM

My "serious" swimming, has long since lapped me. ;-)
But, in the hot Vegas summers here, I definitely do it...great exercise.

that's a damn good time for the 50. I was a distance swimmer in college so mainly swam the 500 and mile

fastest 200 was 1:40.1

still get some laps in a couple times a week

Asparaguss 02-06-2013 03:40 PM

I love swimming but don't get the chance that often.

Too humble...

Mof swam Div 1 for Stamford.

Our mom was a well known coach on the East Coast.

I had to quit when I hit puberty because I was getting chubbies all the time swimming laps with the gals in those lycra suits and couldn't get out of the pool until the stiffy, made even stiffer by the cold water, went down enough that I wouldn't stab someone. Looking back, that was just another sign of being born to porn.

lol I've been told by a few people that they were required to swim nude in high school gym class. This was in like the 70s or before. Couldn't hide the boner then.

And one guy told me that in the 60s (could have been 50s, don't recall) an area high school was so poor they went nude during their actual swim meets. So everyone in the audience saw them.

And here I thought the speedo was bad enough.

sandman! 02-06-2013 05:38 PM

only if im drowning :)

bronco67 02-06-2013 05:41 PM

I can only swim for a very short distance before it feels like my lungs will explode, but its probably because I never learned the proper way to swim.

I'm all set with treading water, because I learned the trick to stay afloat easily -- but swimming in any style kills me.

candyflip 02-06-2013 07:44 PM

I am the same size and shape I was in High School. I have a few friends who are full time swim coaches and I've often thought about seeing if either of them would work with me to see if it's possible to get back to that place or close again.

I'd clean up in a Master's level league.

fuzebox 02-06-2013 08:38 PM

I swim every morning, my building has a nice 25m pool... I focus more on number of laps than time though. Trying to get back to my level of fitness 10 years ago :Oh crap

MaxCandy 02-07-2013 08:50 AM

just keep swimming

Yeah when I swim i just aim for lap numbers and distance really.. I go slow as shit but can go forever. I can do 1k no problem, 3k when I'm training for distance.

that was one big consolation of spending all those hours in a pool- spending them with girls half naked. Made me what i am today- a pornographer

Funny this should come up. To get myself out of a rut, I've been hitting the pool for an hour three times a week. Today I swam a "Davis mile" in 49 minutes and I'm pretty durned proud of myself. :) http://workoutsoffthebeatenpath.word...om/2012/08/03/

Don't mean to sound like a perv or anything but it kind of turns me on when you say "rut"... :winkwink:

I was shocked that it was less than my usual hour, and that's NOT pushing at all. Lots of arms only and legs only laps with some (teehee) breaststroke sets. You should be able to do it in under 35-40 no problem.

DTK 02-08-2013 12:57 AM

What is a "Davis mile"?

My local pool is full of seniors. Lots of them are Dutch women, who seem to enjoy staying fit for their entire lifespan. There are a pair of 60-ish women who regularly lap me. And one old beer-belly guy who passes me with a floatie between his legs.

The kids I don't mind so much because they're ... kids. :) Just like the little jerks who skate circles around me at the ice rink :)

MaxCandy 02-10-2013 03:25 AM

Swam with hot Ozzie girl today. Very motivational. 2.5km Ocean swim today in 58 minutes, going for nap now.

MaxCandy 03-11-2013 02:13 AM

I have been lazy these last days, who is still swimming?

Captain Kawaii 03-11-2013 03:12 AM

Love swimming. Every chance I get. For fun, in the Pacific.

JamesM 03-11-2013 06:49 AM

love swimming, but its been 2-3 years....
thinking about getting pool built by house.

SilentKnight 03-11-2013 07:28 AM

Swimming is for amateurs.

Here in Niagara Falls our watersports are more extreme. :winkwink:

Poppy 03-11-2013 09:57 AM

Love swimming and have been getting back into the pool lately. I usually go for a 1/2 mile. It can get so addicting. I do have to mix it up though and use swim fins, floaty between legs, hand paddles, etc...

JAPhoto 03-11-2013 01:13 PM

Definitely. I was the only one strong enough on my high school team to pull off the butterfly. For the life of me I still don't know how people do that stroke gracefully.
