Definitely. No way they're killing off two of the most popular characters. Plus in the preview for the second half of the third season it showed Darryl alive and well.

I'm wondering if they'll eventually shift the focus of the show to Darryl instead of Rick. Everyone loves Darryl.

:)

Sly 02-10-2013 12:38 PM

Darryl is a great supporting character, I don't see him being a main character. What everyone loves now, will turn hate later as that attitude would consume the show. If I recall correctly, his character isn't even in the comics?

Neither Daryl nor Merle is in the comic...

Can not wait

brassmonkey 02-11-2013 11:15 AM

rick the sheriff is going nutts!! :1orglaugh who will be the leader now? he made bad choices anyway. :2 cents: put his family first instead of good decisions.

Rochard 02-11-2013 11:17 AM

I lost interest in this show once it became too much of a soap opera.

You mean drama lama ?

WebAdultSolution 02-11-2013 12:44 PM

Yeahhh....was waiting for it!!!

bloggerz 02-11-2013 12:46 PM

I was kinda disappointed in that premiere. Hopefully next episode will have more action

Jim_Gunn 02-11-2013 12:50 PM

Rick is definitely losing it and not just because he is cracking up mentally by seeing his wife's ghost and hearing voices. How can he not see the need for able bodied reinforcements?

His group was what, about 15 people in season 1? And now they are down to just a few including an infant, a child, a one-legged man and a couple of women. There is no way they can hold the prison against the Governor or any other decent sized group.

The quality drastically dropped off during the second season, but the first half of season three hasn't been too bad. I wasn't a big fan of last night's episode though.

Strap On Princess 02-11-2013 02:45 PM

The episode was awesome just was not happy about waiting so long for it. It took forever!!!

I didn't think it was that great. Too soap opera-like. Needs less drama, more zombies.

Some Guy 02-11-2013 05:56 PM

The show is a bit too soap-operaish at times, I have to agree.

I didn't know Darryl and Merle aren't in the comic. That's pretty interesting.

Rick is getting annoying. His wife was annoying and his always pissed off son is annoying.

Season one was perfect. They should go back to that drama/zombie mix. I think the exploration of all the drama is to try to make it appeal to more women. I'm not sexist but that seems to be the effect from seeing the reactions of people.

I actually agree with you. I know a ton of women who watch this show now and, as you said, it's probably because the show has a ton of character drama now. Hell, my girlfriend hates zombies and blood and guts yet even she's hooked on the show.

mineistaken 02-11-2013 06:47 PM

Why do you guys want more zombie killing, its boring... Same and same again. When "action" scenes approach I usually switch my attention elsewhere.

Yeah, because only women like to see characters interact on a TV show.

Season 1: Focus on zombies with some interaction between characters
Season 3 Last episode (and several others): Focus on interaction between characters with some zombies thrown in every now and then.

Season 1 was like a regular zombie movie. As was season 2 but a bit less so. Season 3 is turning into a soap opera with some zombies thrown in every now and then. Plus it's drama overload and at many points it seems way too contrived.

I want season one back!

I like the situations more than the actual killing and all the gore. You know having to escape from a zombie infested town, a zombie invasion on the farm, having to get supplies and unexpectedly running into a hoarde, ending up at the CDC center and learning new information about what happened. That's fun. That's like a standard zombie movie. Some drama is great but not when it's overdone and contrived. The focus of the show shouldn't be on the characters' interpersonal relationships. It can be there but not constantly so over and over again like Days Of Our Lives.

Klen 02-12-2013 06:43 AM

I am not really fun of constant running and fighting, that's kind a too repeating.I guess perfect would be some correct mix between drama and action.

One thing I think you don't realize is that The Walking Dead has always been foremost about the characters, as any good TV show is. The comics were like that. The zombie apocalypse is secondary and just the stage for the human drama.

just like the latest version of Battlestar Galactica. It was basically a really good soap opera set in the outer space. The best parts of the show were when they weren't flying around in space dogfights.
