No most customers are assholes which is why there are bouncers.

In my experience, no.

But most bouncers are required to have very large, 'roid-enhanced forearms which they keep crossed over their chest in an authoritarian manner.

It's kind of like being a police officer I would imagine. All day long you have to deal with stupid people giving you a hard time who occasionally get physical with you.

They have to deal with people all night causing problems but they shouldnt be an authoritative unless you provoke them. I talk to the bouncers and stuff where I go out, and theyre cool but when someone messes with them its time to put the game face on.

Several of the clubs I often went to in the 80s and 90s I got to know the bouncers quite well, and often stayed after-hours to shoot pool or chow down on hot wings and a few comp'd beers. Several became personal friends over the years.

having worked as a bouncer i have to say that short guys (especially with girlfriends that are taller than them) are the biggest assholes when drunk. they kind of want to show that they are "real" men - which most of the time miserably fails

i still have a couple of friends that are bouncers - all nice guys unless you are an asshole ;)

Bouncers are cool They are in place to keep out the assholes and make sure everyone has a good time. They eject the drunks, keep the peace, and let you in ahead of the crowd once they get to know you. If a bouncer hates you its because you make the bar look bad and its your own fault.

The best bouncers don't have to strutt around with attitude and doing the folded arm pose like they're trying to prove they're tough. Their reputation precedes them, thus most people act accordingly around them. And if they don't, well, it is pretty much those people who do the most thinking that "most bouncers are assholes". Of course the guy who's tossing your drunk loudmouthed sorry ass out the door is the asshole. Never you, right?

But since the good ones are in the vast minority I'll have to agree that a good many in fact are basically assholes.

Give any bouncer 20 bucks and they all have your back. Problem solved.

It depends on the place you go. The places with idiot bouncers are exactly the places i don't want to go to in the first place.
