No offense but ...
Being a non native speaker I manage to understand American English very well but
midlands UK man, thats ugly. How come it took me 3 days to barely catch up a conversation in Nottingham? What did you do to the language out there folks :)? |
Its because you are used to American English via movies and so on.

I stayed for 6 months in the UK when I was in my 20s, there was this one guy that no one could understood. not even the Brits, and he wasn't Irish and he didn't have any speech impediments.

Takes some time to get used to the accent, no doubt. It's a great feeling when you get it, it actually sounds nicer IMHO.
