What is up with the anti-contraception stance by Popes and Catholics
 

I can see and understand how the new pope is against abortion and gay marriage. I don't agree with him on these subjects, but I can understand why he feels that way, but I can't get why he and others are against birth control. To me it seems like common sense that if you can't or aren't ready to have a kid you can easily prevent it.

The more babies they have, the more that grow up to be Catholics....

To say they are against birth control would be inaccurate, IMO. They are against unnatural forms of birth control like condoms and the pill, but the rhythm method is supported. Hell, 5 or 6 of my siblings were born that way.

LOL! Reminds me of a quote I once heard. "What do you call couples that use the rhythm method? Parents." :)

My mom (mother of 12, no twins) told me half were rhythm method and the other half were another approved Catholic method of holding a St. Joseph's Aspirin between your knees combined with a lot of prayer.

LOL. That is classic. The family pictures looks just like one of those you see from the TV ads from the 50's and 60's where everyone is all dressed up and heading for church or wherever.

About 10 years ago I was at a friend's house and somehow the topic of birth control came up. His wife said she was going to stop taking the pill because it caused her issues and they were going to start using the rhythm method. I jokingly asked if they were hoping for a boy or a girl and they insisted they were done having kids. Sure enough about 6 months later she was pregnant. This time when she had the kid she also got her tubes tied.

Keeps third world countries where they have the most power overpopulated and impoverished.

More kids equals more Catholics which increases revenues. More suffering (ie. too many kids, not enough money) equals more butts in the seats with again equals more money.

If it deals with the Catholic church it is all about the money, power and young boy's asses.

in most places they just chew gum

We used that method for quite some time and didn't have a kid until we wanted one. As long as your girl has a period you can set your watch to, it works ok.

The pills not 100% we learnt that the hard way

The bible says that getting goodies from your wife is only for having childern and raising them as good Catholics. They depend on this stupidity to keep their membership up. So if you have sex without the intent of procration you are going to hell!
