Why is American Netflix better than the Canadian version?

A friend went to visit Florida for a couple weeks and said there were so many newer tv shows and movies on the American one. Why is this possible? *sigh*

copyright laws

Licensing agreements on the content. I don't know why exactly but that's what it comes down to.

MURICA!

Try a VPN or make a proxy through your server via ssh tunnel.

sandman! 03-18-2013 04:40 PM

you just need to get a usa ip

MrBottomTooth 03-18-2013 04:47 PM

Canadian broadcasters are crippled by archaic mandatory canadian minimum content level laws. So for every episode of walking dead they are required to throw in an episode of corner gas or maybe the littlest hobo. Lol. I dont remember the exact percentage, but whatever it is, it's too much.Trying to preserve our canadian identity by keeping us from being overwhelmed by us shows.

CyberHustler 03-18-2013 04:57 PM

Everything in 'Murica is better...

anexsia 03-18-2013 05:07 PM

Because 'Murica is the best in the world!

We get fucked in Canada thats how. It's 100% true we get about a third less content and the shows and movies are about 2 months slower to release. If you use an xbox or playstation to access netflicks you can use an US IP to access american content

notauniquename 03-18-2013 06:01 PM

unblock-us.com. $5.00 a month. You can update your router so every device in the house connects to the US netflix or hulu too. Comedynetwork.com, ABC, CBS. All those sites that we are blocked from seeing content on. Super easy to do.

Canada isn't worth as much money with a lot lower population. Not enough incentive to work out different deals with content providers.

Merica, Fuck Yeah!

Exactly right. This is why Canadian radio sucks too. The government helps kick start new artists with grants but then tries to secure their investment limiting artistic inflow from all other countries. Sad and stupid.
