If you aren't mining with an ASIC rig, it's not worth getting started. Trust me on this.

Zeiss 05-01-2013 09:01 AM

I thinkS, if you don't have lots of HW, you have to pool, if not even too late now, yes?

This, and they're back ordered and currently not shipping, at least from butterflylabs.com. Its time to get in on LTC or feathercoins for mining. Going to look up some rigs this weekend, ill let you know what I come up with.

Avalons are shipped and churning well. 4 coins (sometimes 5) per day here. Butterflies, if they hit the market at the specs they say they have, are going to kill all CPU/GPU mining, and seriously hurt the Avalons.

Zeiss 05-01-2013 09:24 AM

My dad has a friend, who makes miners. If interested, hit me up, i can ask for you.

Doesnt seem like any are available for their next batch. And at almost 10k a machine for 65/GHs...wow.

GPU or ASIC? I'd take more ASIC miners, but GPU miners are worthless at this point for bitcoins unfortunately .. and I don't speculate in the newer currencies at this point.

Still money to be made building them for people who don't know that (or feel the data is incorrect), though. Smart business.

I was lucky to get one at $10.5k -- what's your budget? They're like gold right now, but by the time you get one, it probably won't be worthwhile .. unless it's a BFL.

Choopa Phil 05-01-2013 10:47 AM

Yea I just checked ebay theres a 2nd batch avalon recepit going for 20,100 with bids on it and not over till friday! Holy crap, thats insane. I was looking to spend around 5K-7k max

I'm mining another one of the cryptocoins, converting those to Litecoins and then using the Litecoins to buy Bitcoins.

Keeping some of them at each step along the way.

Serge Litehead 05-01-2013 06:59 PM

just got this email, finally some good news from BFL

BFL Products Shipping Now
May 1, 2013

Dear Serge,

Shipping of our BitForce SC ASIC miners has begun!

You may have seen news reports of our ASIC miners in the wild and some of you may have already taken delivery. It's all true. We're finally shipping. You will receive your order as we work through the shipping queue .

If you didn't know, you can check your order status on our website. Log in by clicking here. Use the same email and password you set up your account with.

If you don't have your password, use the Lost Password function to create a new one.

So what took so long?

This third generation of our SHA256 engine was a complex multi-year investment in bringing the latest semiconductor technology to bitcoin mining.

Developing a fully custom 65nm ASIC processor is not a casual undertaking. In fact, the new products have improved mining speed by a factor of 72. This much advancement doesn't come easy and it's fair to say that getting here has been eventful.

The key issue has been the engineering related to accommodating larger power draws than expected. A good example is the Jalapeno product. It was originally designed to be powered by USB but now consumes the power of a small light bulb (30w).

Consequently the power regulator, enclosure, airflow and PCB needed upgrading to suit. Although we are *very* aware of the undesirable dynamics of any delay, we were nonetheless obligated to make these updates in order to deliver a reliable product at the expected performance. The same adjustments have been made with all products in the lineup. You can see the adjusted product cases in our currently posted product lineup. (The Mini Rig case will be double shipped to satisfy their orders which is why we've run out Mini Rig enclosure stock).

Final confirmation is required

Please be advised that due to the adjustments described above, we need your confirmation prior to release of your order into the final build queue and on to final delivery. It may also be a good time to review your purchase altogether relative to the bitcoin market as this is the last opportunity to do so. If your order is not confirmed, it will be canceled and your money will be refunded.

Thank you for your support and we wish you great satisfaction with your product!

Same.

I've been playing with trading and have made some significant gains. At the moment mining is the bread and butter but speculation is where it's really made. I'm using LTC as the target currency at the moment but I'm considering moving to USD.

I have 128 chips on order and waiting, but with this industry (bitcoin asic) its so uncertain if you will get it, or be able to keep up with the rise in block diff, ..

It makes much more sense to own shares, if you invested $6000 in ASICMINER at the IPO 9 months ago they would be worth $1,250,050 today plus with the dividends you'd have another $112,300

Yup we're invested into ASICMINER-PT at the moment and loving our weekly returns for doing absolutely nothing, the share value goes up and we're getting some decent dividends too :)

We're currently earning around 1btc for every dividend payout and the value is slowly going up weekly :)
