http://i.imgur.com/oIe52A0.png

I have ordered the deluxe model - With the 19 inch screen upgraded sticks and buttons, plus custom artwork

Its gonna look like a mini 'Robotron 2084' machine - It will play EVERY arcade game EVER up until about 2002, plus sega saturn, nintendo nes / snes / 64, dreamcast, gameboy, color gameboy etc etc... All built in...

Waiting for the custom build to start as I type - I expect to get in an a couple of months - Will post pics on arrival :) :thumbsup

What's with retro-games becoming all popular all of a sudden? Is it because you want to relive your childhood? or do you like to fuck old ladies too? haha

Kinda, yeah... I'm a child of the late 70's early 80's - And have always enjoyed the old arcade machines - Hell, I even play in a pinball league! (Pinball? WTF is THAT lol)

If I had unlimited space, I'd be buying up LOADS of original cabs... But with this, I can enjoy the true arcade experience - And then pop it away in a cupboard if I want too :) Not like a full size machine :thumbsup

That is pretty awesome, hope it has the original Street Fighter on it!

I always wanted to get the Daytona machine for my office.

Hey I spent a non-substantial part of my childhood throwing money into arcades, so I understand. But it won't ever be the same again dude.

Exactly! I wont ever run out of 10p pieces, nor need to put money in, nor need to bother my parents for more pocket money!

WOOT WOOT ! Winning ! :thumbsup

Same here, though I've tried a few of the multi-game gaming units and find the experience is not as fun as the actual, true, original version.

I would *LOVE* to own an original Space Invaders, Asteroids, Lunar Lander (with the big heavy throttle), and sit-down games like Star Trek. I could play those games for hours.

BTW There's a bar on Fremont Street in Las Vegas which has about 50 classic and original arcade games from the 80's. Just awesome.

See Cig 05-28-2013 07:54 AM

whered you order. ill take one.

alex.missyouth 05-28-2013 08:04 AM

That's awesome! :) I love those machines. I remember the days when you had to wait in line for a Street Fighter game.

critical 05-28-2013 09:08 AM

Thats awesomeness! Where can I find that? You got us all interested I think!
I want the link please. :-)

Daytona is still my favourite racer ever from the arcades. I said for years that 1 day i would own one of those huge machines that you sit in and play it all day haha.

I'm just glad i now have an arcade perfect version on the PS3. Which yes i do play over and over again.

I remember how gutted i was when the Saturn and then the Dreamcast versions turned out shit.

Thankfully the PS3 has no such problems obviously, considering the age of the game now anyway...

Definitely not. Most people I know just download the mame program then hit thepiratebay to get the mame roms free of charge. The only thing youre paying for is the hardware, cabinet and software for the front end. The companies that make the original games dont make a cent. Having said that, I have a stand up model in my living room that uses a modified xarcade tank stick and has a 23 inch screen. I also built it around a really good gaming pc so I can play all the modern games on it as well with an xbox 360 controller.

tokmansta 05-28-2013 10:05 AM

looks great

LBBV 05-28-2013 01:05 PM

I just watched an episode of Shark Tank where the presenters had created a standalone video game that played all the classics (Pacman, etc) but had a beer tap on the side of it. Their price point was $4000 each...

The Shark's laughed them right off of the show...

That looks like a lot of fun :thumbsup
Old games always remind me of the documentary "King of Kong" - pretty good movie.

Scott McD 05-28-2013 01:31 PM

Probably the first game i was addicted to at the arcade:

modern games are far too complex and annoying - but i still like Donkey Kong :1orglaugh

MaDalton 05-28-2013 01:47 PM

Hugh Hefner btw has a great collection of old arcade games - probably not on purpose though

The problem with playing it on a PS3 is you are not in the seat with the gears, pedals, steering wheel. Yes you can buy a wheel etc however it isn't the Daytona setup.

We use to love jamming 1st from 4th, getting the car sideways, back into 4th and drift the corner(s) to win :thumbsup

I just looked up the Daytona machines, ~$5k here :Oh crap

On Ron and Fez they were actually just talking about this father and son that built their dream arcade in their basement http://theinterrobang.com/2013/05/fa...-dream-arcade/

They were also talking about how short the arcade era really was, arcades were fucking HUGE in the '80's, and really by the early '90's they completely fizzled out. Now with the exception of Dave and Busters and Gameworks, which are really just big entertainment complexes with video games, you really don't see arcades anymore.

The old roller skating rink I hung out in as a kid had a Tron and a Mat Mania game that I wasted ridiculous amounts of my life on...

Retro games aren't making a comeback solely for nostalgic reasons. They're making a comeback mostly because they're fun. Seriously, some of the funnest games I've ever played have been for older consoles such as the NES and SNES. Goes to show that graphics aren't always everything. Most of today's games look great but can't capture my interest. I spent two hours today just playing Tetris for the old-school NES. Spent three hours last week playing "River City Ransom" which is a game most people don't even remember but is wildly entertaining. I'm hoping to free up some time this weekend so I can play "Maniac Mansion."

:)

Retro games rock.

Have fun with the new toy when it arrives. :thumbsup
