Do you juice or thought about juicing?

Many of you know I have been juicing for a few years now. A little over a year ago goodgirl asked me to show her how to do it. Because of her Rheumatoid Disease she went through a long period that she could not lift a camera to her eye, eliminating one of her favorite hobbies.

One day she decided to start making designs and faces with the produce she had assembled for our daily juice. She took a pic of it with her iPhone and uploaded it to Facebook and it became a daily habit. Eventually, she had a ton of recipes.

People always ask us for recipes and now we can present them to you in a fun and easy format; Faces of Juicing. It is available in print or on Kindle. It does not officially go on sale until Tuesday, but I know some of you are going to be interested in this, so you can get in early.

Edible art...nice! :thumbsup

GoodGirl could do a book tour sponsored by someone like Whole Foods, where she does fun in-store presentations, and then autographs books.

I normally just do a pure carrot juice in mine, tastes awesome having it fresh.

Forgot that I used to have a recipe for one called diablo which had some hot peppers, beets and carrot and a few others things in it, it was quite good. I'll have to dig that up

Our juices have lots of stuff in them, fruits and veggies with lots of colors. That being said, I love it when she does a pure OJ or OJ and pineapple mix.

She makes the bomb carrot cake which includes juicing the carrots, using the pulp, then adding the juice back into the batter. She does the same thing with the fresh pineapple. It is very good.

At least once a week we make a batch of juice out of whatever is in season.

O MARINA 06-01-2013 03:33 PM

That's awesome Baddog!! :thumbsup

Supz 06-01-2013 03:42 PM

Gonna pick up the Kindle version tomorrow.

For the next book you should have people submit faces and recipes. That would be cool.

Great stuff :)

Pretty much everybody I know is juicing right now or it feels like that many are doing it anyway. I keep thinking about it but never really get over the threshold.

That is part of why we put the book together; to help people that are trying to get into it to have easy, healthy and tasty recipes. If the juices suck you wont stick with it; we want to help people enjoy the experience.

Oh, I am sure I will love the taste. I am that sort of person. I just am not sure it wouldn't really mess with my insulin levels. Then, there is the equipment.

We use a mix of approx 60/40 veggie to fruit; but recommend lowering the amount of fruit if you are juicing for weight loss or have insulin issues.

The good taste our juices have is rarely due to the fruit, but rather kale, ginger, garlic . . . stuff like that.

that's a good ratio :thumbsup
I did a strawberry/pineapple/spinash/cucumber/ginger/ carrot Juice this past week end that was awesome. Time to head back to the grocery store tonight and get more fruits :pimp

Jman 06-03-2013 01:06 PM

Looking forward to the juicing for weight loss recipes. I juiced a few years ago and stopped. I do miss the benefits and now that summer is back I'm ready to get serious about it.

Good work!

We have cut back on fruit to almost nothing and are using mostly vegetables these days after we started putting on weight from making juice with a lot of fruit in it.

RevSand 06-03-2013 01:10 PM

Always crack up at your juicing faces on FB.. Awesome to see that you are going bigger with it. Congrats on the book to you both! :thumbsup

Washing the juicer is what discourages me.

baddog 06-03-2013 01:25 PM

Thanks everyone.

There were a few concerns I had when shopping for a juicer. Ease of use, yield (dry pulp) and easy to clean. The juicer we have takes maybe 5 minutes to clean. http://facesofjuicing.com/buying-a-good-juicer/

Choopa_Pardo 06-03-2013 01:42 PM

I love making fresh juice, but the time for cleanup is really a pain. Only on the weekends really.

What were you juicing and were you on a juice fast or just supplementing a meal with it?

Did both. It was actually about 10 days. I think it was too much sugar as I mainly just drink water & no sweets.

Yeah, you have to be careful with the amount of fruit used, that is why we use more veggies than fruit unless we are having the occasional fresh oj with pineapple . . . or pure pineapple juice.

As far as doing a juice fast, I have been juicing for close to 3 years now and have no desire to do a fast. I am afraid goodgirl is going to come home from IN and start one, so I may be forced by association.

The book is now available in paperback or on Kindle . . . free checkout as well if you are part of that.
