"They died doing what they loved..."

I don't really watch the news... haven't for a few years now or so. I happened to be in a hotel with CNN on and they mentioned 3 storm chasing jackoffs getting killed chasing a tornado.

The anchor said "they died doing what they loved"

I always wonder... how in love were they with it when they were getting beat to death for driving at a tornado and successfully reaching it? I would imagine at that point that they weren't overly in love with it at all. In fact, i would bet that if given the choice "die doing this" or "go home and be with my family", they would have chosen the latter.

I really get tired of hearing the "he died doing what he loved" line. We should not seek to romance stupidity where a Darwin Award is deserved.

In Canada if this happened we would ban people from doing this and probably some rediclous fine they could never pay.

These were the Discovery Channel guys.

dyna mo 06-03-2013 06:23 AM

what did they expect to happen?

mission accomplished.

i was reading that 7 or 8 of the 8 or 9 killed in this last tornoado were all in their cars out and about checking out the tornadoes.

hell, even i know that's risky and i've never been to tornado ally.

Just out of curiosity not related to chasing storms in a poorly modified Ford truck, where do you live in Florida?

lol, I think it's hilarious not telling friends ahead of time. I have a cousin and his family that ignore me now. I never tell them anything except I live in a gated resort, when they round the first corner and see naked people going in and out of the clubhouse most freak out. :1orglaugh:1orglaugh

Darwin award nominees

pimpmaster9000 06-03-2013 07:20 AM

I understand them 100%...I love off road driving in extreme conditions with sleds or atv-s...extreme places + extreme conditions...4-5 hours ride from base at -20C in the middle of a snow storm with whiteouts and sometimes after dark riding...

has nothing to do with darwin awards...you like what you like...cant pick...darwin awards should go to people who never do what they love and die anyway :2 cents:

The real question is.

How many lives have been saved by the data they have gathered??

what the op is saying is that you are not going to be loving life and have a big smile on your face when you slam your atv into a tree at 45mph in the dark during a blizzard 100 miles from civilization.
