Paysite security scripts?

What are all ye paysite owners using for password/bandwidth/etc security these days, if anything?

Currently I'm using Strongbox. But have run into a couple issues with them, and their support plan is kind of a racket IMO. Might be doing a switch soon if there are other good options...

CHMOD 07-13-2013 12:35 AM

Sliiing has a built-in function taking care of that.

deltav 07-13-2013 12:49 PM

Thanks, but I'm not interested in Sliiing at the moment - just want a security script/service.

Danny Deepwood 07-13-2013 12:54 PM

I recommend Proxy Pass. Great support too! http://www.proxigence.com/

deltav 07-16-2013 09:58 AM

Thanks Danny, will have a look. Anyone else?

JockoHomo 07-16-2013 12:23 PM

Another vote for Proxy Pass here!

Used them for years on my sites and save me tons of $$$

stay awaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyy from strongbox. Their throttlebox is not working and there is no support.

raymor 07-16-2013 04:12 PM

Your comment about the support plan is interesting. All of the others charge around $65 per MONTH ($780 / year).
We charge $99 per YEAR. I'm curious why you'd call charging 90% less a racket.

GoldBars - Throttlebox counts files in the members' directory only by default.
I'll set it to count your public files as well, if you'd like, or you can put your content inside of members/.
That's the actual content, the videos, that count. A page in members/ that links to public videos doesn't protect the videos it links to.

blah blah blah. I have been sending you at least 30 emails for the past 6 months. You never respond although you know what the problem is. Your rules do not work and you know it. Everything is in the member area. I am also planning for a different solution.

GoldBarsXXX 07-19-2013 01:59 AM

stay away from bettercgi

Mutt 07-19-2013 02:08 AM

I use Password Sentry, one time fee for it and it works - had a problem with an upgrade issue not long ago and Dan from PS gave excellent support.

Matyko 04-07-2014 12:01 PM

useful info in the thread, thanks.

KickAssJesse 04-07-2014 12:21 PM

We used to use proxypass; but now we block at the load balancer level.
But proxypass worked great for us in the past.

You might want to check out SiteDefensor :-) SiteDefensor offers a password sharing protection (based on analysis of user’s IP addresses and a geolocation service), anti-leech protection (you can set daily/monthly/total download limit and maximum download speed) and a secure captcha solution that really stops brute-force attacks. Last but not least it supports CDN and cluster setups (apache+nginx).

strongbox is the biggest pain for hackers imho, at least if they get kicked from the site, they know it was strongbox who did that ... and thats making them mad ... but last threads about support doesnt feels good, but we see that raymor is still around, so i would say go with strongbox :winkwink: never heard or read about other protection scripts on any hackers forum i know ... :2 cents:

Nice. I'd love to have Strongbox, but besides they charged my card w/o showing a 'total' and some confirmation, etc I haven't got any real response from them.

Matyko 04-09-2014 10:24 AM

Got real response. It seems they are all ok but understaffed.

spooks69 06-23-2014 05:47 PM

Used Password Sentry, service is awesome! Very happy!

Gator 06-23-2014 06:56 PM

Password Sentry combined with PHP Auth Plugin. These have been developed longer than any others as far as I know and always have been a less expensive option.

Fuck recurring fees. That is kind of an oxymoron now isn't it? :1orglaugh

venus 06-23-2014 09:50 PM

I second password sentry...been using it since 2001
