Coupon scam at Walmart

There's a scam artist that visits my Walmart and buys carts and carts full of shit with coupons. The next day she returns them and gets full credit(her cost plus the cost of the coupon) for the merch. This lazy scammer ties up a checker for an hour and a half and empties the shelves. I don't know why Walmart doesn't ban her and I am not sure how this shit could be legal. Have any of you seen this bullshit in action?

JockoHomo 07-18-2013 05:24 AM

I have only seen that done on that TV program...never in real life.

Oh...and I don't shop at Walmart and I would suggest you don't either.

Take a pic of her and post it on PeopleofWalmart.com

You're a cashier there aren't you? :1orglaugh

This shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone who has worked in retail or for a company with a return/refund policy. There will always be people looking to game the system.

The company has the flexibility to change their policy. If they see it as a big enough issue they can change the policy to refund only the tendered amount, or conversely, start deducting a re-shelving fee for returned items. However, since retailers in turn get reimbursed for the coupon amounts, they probably don't much care.

That is for Walmart to deal with, isn't it. Walmart would say if someone is stealing from them or doing whatever else. Not sure about these coupons and how they work...

I used to think this way and avoid walmart but fuck it. why should it pay nearly double for some of the exact same items at other stores that offer me nothing more?

That's at least two hours she's devoted on different days to generating a few extra bucks. Sounds like she's in tight times. I wouldn't judge.

Even if he is. So what? Now days with things the way they are, you have to do what you have to do. Feeding your family and self comes before pride.

If you put pride first then something is wrong with you.

If he is a customer as I am, then it is his concern as this activity drives up the costs for him. And most likely the reason Walmart allows it to continue. They can then justify raising prices.

I shop at wal mart because of lack of other believe it or not " quality " places in the area to do so, I can trust that the products are good and not a rip off.

Maybe she's the wife of Analhobbit.

This is what sick people do. They spend all day, everyday trying
To figure out how to game the system for 50.00. All you have to do is ask any person in retail sales and they can tell you about all the idiots they deal with daily that try to cheat and steal.

Furthermore - no judging ? Fuck that. The reason you have people like this to begin with is the "don't judge" crap. If she was surrounded by people who called her a thieving twat, she'd busy herself looking for a job.

lezinterracial 07-19-2013 08:49 AM

I thought walmart recorded returns and stopped taking them after a while.

onwebcam 07-19-2013 08:53 AM

Not only that she's probably buying it all with food stamps and returning for cash.

shake 07-19-2013 08:54 AM

Maybe you could get a job as a greeter instead of a cashier, then you wouldn't have to deal with her so much :2 cents:

bigluv 07-19-2013 09:05 AM

It's not like walmart isn't stealing from you using cutting edge marketing and whole teams of people dedicated to figuring out how to manipulate or trick you into buying more things. They also sell and profit from obvious hokum like magnetic bracelets and so forth.

hahahahaha right on

How is she stealing? That's the only part I don't get. It sounds to ME as if she's doing it wrong! The proper thing to do is combine coupons and deals and use them at stores that also do "register rewards" (rite aid, walgreens etc) and then you wind up paying only sales tax for the items, getting store money for things you really need, and then you sell the items at garage sales.

A friend of mine feeds herself and her family this way, pays her rent with her sales, and still has shelves full for the next time. She's a true master and there's no theft or trickery whatsoever! The store managers special order for her and they LOVE moving the merchandise naturally as it adds to their sales and yes, profit.

:warning Nope, this is not true. :warning

1) When you buy shit with a coupon and return it, you DONT get the coupon value back, only what you paid. In this case, Walmart wins since they get the merchandise back AND credit from the manufacturer

2) If you say you lost your receipt, Walmart has a maximum amount they will give you on store credit per year. You get 3 chances and $250. I know this because I bought shit, lost the receipt and got hosed with store credit.
