Hi Everyone, are you ready for something fun, a brand new activity ?

Hockey is a Religion in Canada, and big part of my life, so im very proud and thrill to announce this news !!

We thought that the coolest thing to organize at the Qwebec Expo in Montreal would be this :

in collaboration with Qwebec Expo, are proud to announce the very first edition of? Hockey night in Qwebec!

This cool event will be held at the Bell Sports Complex on Friday August 9 2013. It will be a great occasion to loosen up and get some exercise after a big day of meeting people and before a night of partying.

Come out and play, be a referee, a coach, a scorekeeper, a cheerleader, but make sure to be there, it will be a lot of fun.

And don?t worry, we didn?t invite any players from Canada?s National Hockey team. You?re welcome to join us regardless of your caliber. However, it?s on real ice so you should at least be able to skate?

We?ll provide transportation from the Marriott Hotel to ice rink and we?ll also provide the hockey equipment if you don?t have your own.

I have been wanting to put something like this together for years and although I unfortunately won't be able to make the Quebec show, I will start looking at the potential of putting something together for the Vegas show in January.

I try to make as many of Joe's scrimmages that he puts together at Staples and those are a blast. You are taking it to the next level though with cheerleaders, refs, etc. that is just glorious.

This should become a regular show event as far as I am concerned because I suck at golf... :thumbsup

Based on your success with this one, let's talk the potential in Vegas... I see it being a party for all, not just those on the ice, make it something folks can bet on, play for a "Cup" maybe, sponsored fan giveaways, etc..... you get the picture... just throwing out ideas.

Great idea for Vegas. Las Vegas Ice Center is only about 12 min off the strip, straight up Flamingo and have two rinks. Plus a bar right on sight, with seats providing view of one the rinks.

Definitely, well this one just started, but it already smells success and fun, and like you said it can be much more than just a hockey game.

FOr this one, hockey is the main focus and its first time so i want to be sure everything all right, but more can be build around that.

For the Qwebec game, we try to rent the Bell Center but its not open, we would have love to be next door from the hotel and more easy to come, for this year we play in Brossard, accross the bridge,,,and its friday, so not the perfect set-up but will manage it, but less casual for non-players..

So lets make a big success, and will see for the future, perharps a new league AIHL !! Adult Industry Hockey League :) :)

Just a suggestion which you probably already considered, since I have been thinking about this for a long time myself, in an effort to keep the play fun and highly competitive regardless of skill level, is have each player declare how many years of experience/what level of play he or she has reached or can play at currently.

Divide the players up accordingly so there is level balance of high and low skilled players to avoid a slaughter that won't be entertaining at all. Pick captains to do a draft based on the numerics.

Ringers suck balls and should always be discouraged since they fuck it up for everyone.:2 cents:

How many total skaters are you guys taking in, not including goalies?

I am trying to gauge the response to yours in order to put something together for Vegas.

If, say, 30 or more wanted to play, then I would think about doing 30 minute games with 10 players per and have team 1 play team 2, then team 3 play team 1, then team 3 play team 2 so it could be mini-tourney style, overall winners based on points, etc.

The place in Vegas has a restaurant and bar overlooking the rink with view of a scoreboard so it could work for a party scenario...

Was thinking "Webmaster Hockey League" but looks like WHL is already taken...:winkwink:

FOr Vegas, the equipment could be a concern maybe ?

Even in Mtl, its not that easy to rent a lot of complete hockey kit. This is could be a bigger challenge in the desert , not a lot of shops with used hockey equipment's to rent/sell i guess... !

The Vegas ice rink is pretty big, lots of small leagues play there... Equipment could be brought in from LA as well for the weekend?

I don't mind the fees to bring my bag but I will look into gear because it probably is wrong to assume that everyone won't mind dealing with that.

Even if I could make your game I would still carry my own stuff. Rental skates tend to suck, but usually most rinks have at least helmets and usually a closet full of pads, gloves, sticks, etc, but I will find out.

In any event, the scrimmages that Amacontent Joe throws every year at Staples brings in webmasters from all over that bring their gear so I think with enough advance notice it shouldn't be an issue but good thing to consider.

How are you dealing with that?

Does your rink rent full gear? I have never heard of that before, even in Canada. Without pads though you might as well make it a curling showdown... :winkwink:
