Man arrested at New York?s JFK airport ?with uranium for Iran in shoes?

http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2013/08/2...iran-in-shoes/

The title alone is a complete deception.

Sly 08-24-2013 05:52 PM

I wasn't scared until I read your thread. Now I am terrified.

Are you the mainstream media?!

TheSquealer 08-24-2013 05:53 PM

I'm now scared for Sly

pauliexray 08-24-2013 05:58 PM

Helix 08-24-2013 06:01 PM

Those are just Dr. Scholl's uranium shoe inserts.

L-Pink 08-24-2013 06:06 PM

He had a thousand pounds in his shoes?

Helix 08-24-2013 06:09 PM

He was a big man, but light on his feet. Maybe a little light in the loafers.

Phoenix 08-24-2013 06:12 PM

he is an idiot...but scary that did seem to have some samples to show.

means someone might have been willing to sell him 1000 pounds

keysync 08-24-2013 06:17 PM

If nothing else this shows how easy it would actually be to buy the shit if you wanted it.

Seems he had some samples.

What's really scary is the thought that there are in fact people out there who have such material, and are willing to sell it to the highest bidder.

Iran already has uranium as does pretty much every other country, Enriched uranium is another thing. The guy is apparently a Uranium salesman from Sierra Leone for gods sake. All this shows is they captured another idiot just like all the other idiots they parade out and say "look at what we did."

TheSquealer 08-24-2013 07:22 PM

Only a truly insane person would try to fly with a radioactive material. I seriously doubt this guy was legitimately a threat... but very likely, legitimately stupid.

baddog 08-24-2013 07:26 PM

The fact that the OP is the who he is, not worried.

Is he offering any Palm wine with the yellow cake? Sierra Leone's are stepping up the Nigerian scam game. Joke article. Pathetic. I wonder if MOSSAD and the CIA hatched this joke at a Pizza Hut in Beirut or in Vegas. :upsidedow

Focus on the story not the messenger. OP did not write the article...or did he? :1orglaugh

As usual, consider your source - a site called "Rawstory.com". They've got a headline underneath it that reads "Neo-Nazi plans to build an all-white city of racists in North Dakota". So whatever. Not like this story's getting a ton of play elsewhere.

This work better for ya?

or this

or this

Pick your propaganda news source. You should probably ask yourself why a French news source knew about it first... Maybe because they allowed him to continue on to the US knowing what he was packing?

No sweat, baddog is just mad because I can afford good dental and he can't. Maybe he will get some pearly whites with his new SSI obamacare.

I remember JFK security was lame. Wonder how they got this one. :1orglaugh

I dunno man, that NY Times article you linked (http://www.nytimes.com/2013/08/24/ny...iran.html?_r=0) seems pretty clear reporting that the dude was incompetent at best and probably wasn't a real threat to anyone. I see absolutely no scare-mongering in there, just a weird tale of a crook who didn't quite know what he was doing & got himself busted.

How exactly does that write-up "scare the American people" or seem like it's designed to? Seriously, where?

Keywords: Iran and Uranium. They are always incompetent. The incompetent can only catch the incompetent. What I find most amusing about it all is it was an immigration officer who posted the request.. I guess that shows they really have nothing to do and the NSA is busy listening to all our calls and screening our internet usage.. So busy that I guess they missed the alibaba posting.

They knew he was coming just like the underwear bomber who was escorted around body scanners in Amsterdam by a US agent this guy was connected to the US via France, hence the French connection and early knowledge.

Ah I get it, so the NY Times can't report on a story that includes the topics of Iran & Uranium, or it's propaganda in your book no matter how mild the writing is. I saw no sensationalism in there at all, just sort of story that might make a Coen Brothers movie someday.

The irony is... you cry Propaganda at something minor like that and get all outraged about the perceived manipulations, but previously have started threads linking to literally the propaganda wing of the Islamic Republic of Iran and claimed it as objective news. Or more recently, your link to that pro-Assad mouthpiece masquerading (not very well) as some human rights group.

But your brain isn't wired for detecting your hypocrisy or for self-examination like that - you'll just keep on plugging away in your simplified little world.

This thread alone goes to show how ignorant people are on matters such as this. Iran is a producer of Uranium. So when people who don't know any better see the words Uranium and Iran they make comments such as "this shows how easy it would actually be to buy the shit if you wanted it" not knowing that most Iranians can probably go in their back yard and dig it up. The Immigration officer turned wannabe NSA agent obviously had no idea about it, neither did the so called saleman as well as most people who read the headlines claiming Iran was trying to acquire something they already have plenty of.

op must think the media is held to a higher standard. fyi, it's a lower standard, their job is to fill their sites and rags with words to sell advertising. bottomline for them, there is no moral obligation to the media, fuck, they run major stories on octopus guessing soccer games.

it's your job to sift through all that.

if we all posted stupid shit herer from the internet, the sqeauler would go beserk trying to straighten all that out.

sift

dyna mo 08-25-2013 10:38 AM

lolz, now the op is acting like he's the authority on uranium/iran all the while yapping about the media.
