Need dedicated server hosting that has experience supporting Strongbox

Hello:

Can someone point me to a hosting company that has experience with websites that use Strongbox? I am trying to move off HostGator. I signed up with Cyberwurx, they have been very nice, but efforts to get Strongbox to work on their servers have failed and no one at either Strongbox or Cyberwurx can get it to work. Strongbox is a non-negotiable item for my site.

Thanks for any tips.

Enzo

I use Strongbox. I host with National Net.

I recommend password sentry with much more functionality than strong box and can work on all host with no issue and support is very good as well.

mojo comes to mind they are especially good at that kind of thing. I use the other hosts in this thread and they are all great. well not hostgator. But strongbox sounds like a job for mojo

We have many clients using StrongBox. Curious as to what the issue could be...
Have you tried to contact StrongBox? They may be able to provide some assistance.
They are very helpful and easy to work with.

Does PassWord Sentry have a multi-image captcha system?

Yes, I am in touch with Strongbox. They have been unable to provide any meaningful assistance. Frankly, I am surprised to hear anyone describe them as "helpful and easy to work with." While that was the case some years ago, it is no longer my experience-- I find their customer service is quite spotty, downright awful at times. I am willing to put up with that, however, because the Strongbox system is so good.

M3 has many clients using Strongbox, have never had one client complain. My contact info is in signature below if you have questions. Be happy to assist you.:thumbsup

I don't have a problem getting ahold of them, but that could be because I hardly ever have any issues.

Just for shits and giggles, I installed the Password Sentry trial on my server a few months ago. It seems like a great piece of software, but my bandwidth use went up immediately after switching. Considerably. The only thing I can figure is that PS lets in more unauthorized users than Strongbox. PS has a better interface, though. To be honest, there are pros and cons of both that I really like, wish someone would merge the two. :thumbsup

Enzo, what exactly was the problem you had with the installation? Please contact me and I will deploy a VPS to test it. If we cannot get it to work, there's no charge, how does this sound to you?

Im gonna say you can NOT go wrong with M3server.com

I have sent several people there and everyone thanks me for it.

and you guys know if I say they are the best I mean it...

Why not dump strongbox?

I bought a license and used it awhile but grew to hate it (don't like the shit it puts on your urls).

There are lots of security solutions that are such a pain in the ass...ProxyPass comes to mind (because we use it)! Have used 4 different hosts over the years and have never had any installation problems.

Thank you all for your suggestions.

Here is the dilemma I face. I want to continue using Strongbox. I want to move to a new server, away from HostGator. Unfortunately, I cannot rely on the Strongbox people to install the software on whatever server I move to. For example, on the current attempt to move to Cyberwurx, they ran into some technical problems and then just vanished, and they do not answer emails or support tickets from Cyberwurx, despite being paid to do the job. This is my normal experience with Strongbox -- they just disappear and don't answer emails (even if you are trying to buy additional products from them!) I suspect that this will eventually be resolved and Ali will be apologetic and so forth and refund the money, but in the meantime my migration is halted.

So what I need is a hosting server that can handle installing Strongbox without any help from Ray and Ali. Is that possible? Can any of you install Strongbox on your own?

Hi Andrew, I don't know enough about any of this backend technical stuff to be able to tell what the problem is. It just doesn't work is all I know. Can you install and troubleshoot Strongbox on your own, without having to rely on Ray and Ali?

I think pretty much any major adult host will have experience with strongbox. That being said, I think you need to find a programmer familiar with perl & apache to get it working.

No problem at all to set you up right away with a free trial VPS for several days.

Send me an email or hit me up on ICQ with the download and license details. Once it's up, configured and running, I will migrate you to a plan or dedicated server which fits your needs and budget. All our plans are managed, which means we will help you install anything you like on your server or virtual machine, within reason depending on your plan.

Agreed, not impressed with their support either, wouldn't assist with me an older version (only 1 year old) unless I paid for a full upgrade to the latest version first, all i needed was backup install files, not on really.
