Oregon Joke (?)

Do any of you over 30 remember a joke from way back where someone would say they've moved to Oregon if you hadn't heard from them in a while? I coulda sworn there was a punchline like this back in the day. I googled it and couldn't find it. Someone I know recently said this and I find it hard to believe he just picked up and left.

I'm over 30 and did indeed move to Oregon. Never heard the joke tho.

Okay, maybe there wasn't a joke like this then. I thought there was. Nowadays moving to Oregon might not be so far-fetched. Portland is very hip--a lot of artists and entrepreneurs move there.

I thought the meaning of the joke was that it's so out there and away from everything... that was supposed to be the funny part. I could be wrong.

I have lived in Oregon for most of my life and don't remember a joke like that, but that doesn't mean there never was one.

You're all wrong. The middle of nowhere is in fact Karaganda

Those of you who are reporting from Oregon and Washington state may never have heard of it because perhaps it was a regional joke or something. (I'm on the east coast.) I dunno. Old memories die as we age and get replaced by new ones I guess.

Never heard it in CA either . . . although there was a migration of Californians to OR back in the 70's-80's. The joke was that most of the Oregonians that complained about Californians in OR were, in fact, transplanted Californians.
